Dizzam Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 As the title says, is there a way to fill buckets with, say, lava, then have them pipe through to a geothermal generator? Quote
The_DarthMoogle Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 You can actually pipe directly into one of them. Quote
Dizzam Posted May 29, 2012 Author Posted May 29, 2012 You can actually pipe directly into one of them. I know, I meant it just as an example, though. What I'm doing is, in the Nether, piping lava buckets and empty cells into an automatic crafting table which sends lava cells into an ender chest back to the overworld which has a geothermal generator powering a miner. Only problem is getting lava buckets. Quote
AnnaMayBelle Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Haven't tested this but... Try using a pump to pipe the lava from a large pool into a smaller collection pool, where a Retriever buckets it up and outputs it into the Ender Chest. With proper use of filters, I think you should also be able to have the system return the empty buckets to the Nether via the same Ender Chest in order to refill the Retriever. It should be the same basic principle as the Free EU Using Water Mills design. Quote
Neowulf Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Skip the buckets: BC pump to a tank. IC2 pump on top of the tank. Chest next to the IC2 pump full of empty cells. I don't think it works to have the ender chest directly beside the pump, but you can use RP filters or BC piping to ferry the empty/filled cells between the ender chest and the normal one. Quote
Dizzam Posted May 29, 2012 Author Posted May 29, 2012 Having the IC2 pump next to the chest full of cells just fills the cells? If ender chests don't end up working, I can just pipe the lava cells using advanced wooden transport pipes into the ender chest. Quote

Yeah, I thought about trying that because I had already set up one early on, but, to be honest, I know nothing about anything in RedPower other than handsaws, lol. Though this solution was going to be my fallback plan if my current one failed. Quote

Yup, makes it easy to keep an IC2 mining working when you stick a pump next to it. Just chuck a couple stacks of empty cells in the chest touching the pump and your miner can drill through the ocean and suck up an entire underground lava lake. Quote
Kortmannetje Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Isn't it possible to pump the lava directly to the overworld with teleport pipes? That way, you could directly pump it in the geo's (MKII from powerconverters if not working). EDIT: Tested is, doesn't work But: Does one have enough tin? Quote

Do you have another mod installed beyond the technic pack that might explain this, or am I just being thick? I can get it to fill BUCKETS and throw them in a chest, but that would require a whole lot of reloading or more complex automation that I would rather not do. It won't fill up the cells, for some reason. Thoughts? Quote
Neowulf Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Strict tekkit. Try putting one cell in the pump to begin with, that might kickstart it. I haven't tried this exact setup, but I've gotten it to pump to buckets from a tank for an autocrafting table before, and sticking a pump next to a miner allows it to fill cells in an adjacent chest just fine with the pump's inventory empty. At the very worst you can use it to fill buckets in an adjacent chest and stick an auto-crafting table next to it to fill cells from buckets. Quote

I wish I could remember for sure if I'd put buckets in the chest to see if that works. I'll have to try this evening- I will confirm or deny its operation then! Thanks for the reply. You know... I'm trying this in single player. I wonder if it is inexplicably different in Tekkit... stranger things have happened. Quote
