[MD5 Mismatch]

shenniko

Question

Hi,

Having some problems getting into the game.

Have previously launched the game though the launcher no problem, but now when im trying i click Login (or My Username) and it says "Connecting to Minecraft.net" and then does nothing..

I'm running the recommended build, have a Legal account.

Ive checked the log file and can see there is a MD5 Checksum Mismatch.. would that be causing it?

Well I've just tried to connect via a Vanilla Install and it says i cant connect to Minecraft.Net there either...

Just tried to ping Minecraft.net, and the results dont look tooo bad..

Pinging minecraft.net [50.16.203.217] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 50.16.203.217: bytes=32 time=102ms TTL=51

Reply from 50.16.203.217: bytes=32 time=102ms TTL=51

Reply from 50.16.203.217: bytes=32 time=98ms TTL=51

Reply from 50.16.203.217: bytes=32 time=112ms TTL=51

Ping statistics for 50.16.203.217:

  Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),

Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:

  Minimum = 98ms, Maximum = 112ms, Average = 103ms

C:\>Ping Minecraft.net

Reply from 50.16.203.217: bytes=32 time=96ms TTL=51

Reply from 50.16.203.217: bytes=32 time=115ms TTL=51

Ping statistics for 50.16.203.217:

  Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),

So im kinda at a loss.. I DO have legal version, but am unable to connect to Minecraft.net (Both Via Launcher and Vanilla). So in theory.. shouldnt offline mode kick in..

Thanks

Well, if the vanilla minecraft launcher doesn't kick offline mode in either, it shouldn't. Just unplug your internet while starting the launcher and when you are in minecraft replug it :)

Edit: Just saw a tweet from Mollstam, it's a DDoS attack :|

An Md5 file is a key for transmitting data securely.

if you have a mismatch simplest thing is to reboot the computer.

this SHOULD kill the connection between you and the server and after 5 mins or so try and reconnect.

if this doesnt work do a search of your computer for *.md5 and clear it out. This will force the connection to renegotiate a connection key.

Note this is mincraft.net so it does get alot of hits it could be very busy and just have confused your md5 key in which its best to wait till traffic is a bit lower. I have no idea what notch hosts his site on.
