Random003 Posted February 1, 2015 Share Posted February 1, 2015 Hello all, I'm having an issue with a block on my server. I'm looking into various ways to remove this block but I'm having difficulty finding a good solution. I need a block at specific coordinates removed with commands from console (not in-game) while the server is running. I have tried the plugin listed below which would serve my needs perfectly but the plugin is not working. A troll? Yeah, that sounds about right. Is it easy to just delete a region file which could (and on any decent sized server almost certainly will) contain any number of other user's builds? Yes, in SSP, if you haven't built anything in that region file go right ahead and delete it. If you have to tell half a dozen users that the bases they've been building up for the past six months have been wiped out because you couldn't be bothered to use a simple tool to fix the offending block/chunk you are: 1) A bad administrator. 2) Going to lose a lot of players. Rolling specific region files back to one of your hourly snapshots (you are keeping hourly/daily/weekly snapshots, yes?) is a much more viable solution in the event of something more than the corruption of a few blocks or entities. Sharing factual, accurate and relevant information to resolve people's problems does not make one a troll. Sharing anecdotal success stories to folks who may not understand the impact of those actions can be harmful to a community. You have 16 posts, poor grammar, and offer "suggestions" that are potentially destructive and not particularly helpful. I don't see where you are coming from calling someone a troll when that person has 200 times your post count (while post count doesn't mean as much around here, the number is informative) and has never to my knowledge been anything but helpful. When someone comes into the forums and seemingly attempts to countermand suggestions and advice (specifically regarding memory allocation, client/server co-mingling, scalability, etc.) which has been tried and tested by a large community of users it is our duty to make sure that the original poster of the thread is made aware of the community consensus. It's a given. Back to 5 MCEdit is used when the server isn't running. Meaning you've backed the entire world up before you even open the program. 7 My attitude has not been questioned here, at least not very often. I'm questioning yours, because you're hyper-sensitive and defensive when someone offers some sound advice that goes even mildly against one of your "suggestions." Poor grammar is a sign that you either can't be bothered to become more fluent in the language you're speaking or writing in, or you are incapable of it. The latter is...rare, and more people need to take the time and effort to use better grammar. Otherwise life will beat the lesson into them that the level of grammar you use reflects directly and highly on how other people see you. No, you're not banned, because you are currently following the First Rule of Holes (one of my personal favorites). Ask a few other members of the forums how they got off to a rocky start, and ended up participating much better over time. No, I won't delete all your posts. As a matter of fact, I suggest you keep making them, but do two things while posting here: 1) Think before, during, and after posting. 2) Proof your posts. Act as if you were writing an essay or taking a test. Do that here, and do it everywhere, and you will quickly discover that people respond to you differently.
