  1. I have a sorting machine system that does NOT use a timer (since someone pointed out the "Auto Mode" that self-pulses"). VERY nice setup. Unfortunately the entire system is pulling from an Ender Chest, which allows me to carry an Ender Bag with the same color key and grants me the ability to remote insert items into my sorting system for automatic processing and storage. For whatever reason, the Sorting Machines do not treat the Ender Chest as a "valid storage chest" type, so if the Ender Chest is directly next to the Sorting Machine.. nothing happens. The items pile up and nothing ever gets pulled. If I have a Filter pull from the Ender Chest into a "Diamond Chest" (which the Sorting Machine does treat as valid storage), then everything starts working. This means I have to have a timer giving a pulse to only the Filter. So.. should I run some wooden pipe with an Autarchic Gate on it from the Ender Chest to a Buffer .. which then directly connects to the Filter and the rest of the system? Or what?
  2. I try to specifically always use Filters as they pull whole stacks (whereas Transposers only pull individual items) of things. This keeps my buffer chests from clogging up! I really do love the Pneumatic Tubes from Red Power, but I wish I could figure out WHY timers are hitching my gameplay so badly. Everything runs smooth as silk.. until I get within 10 blocks of any timer. Last night I started exploring BuildCraft Pipes to see if there was a viable alternative that still had overflow protection, and discovered the Insertion Pipe in the process. The Insertion Pipe resolves my overflow issues, but with the added frustration of TRIPLING space dedicated to pipes so you can funnel the overflow back to the origin point. Combining this with Autarchiac Diamond Gates I was able to make a Buildcraft pipe test system with overflow that required no Redstone engines AND didn't go into an infinite overflow loop if the target chest was full. Real proud of myself. But again.. it takes up three times the space of a simple Red Power pneumatic tube setup. SO. I need to figure out buffers!
  3. Well technically I have to have an adjacent block right now ANYWAY because I need space to place and aim the timer. So.. the second block is just being moved inline. That sounds like an AWESOME solution (the Buffers). I need to look those things up.
  4. Okay apparently there are a TON of RP blocks that I was not even aware of: RESEARCH TIME! Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!
  5. I have come to the realization that, when running Tekkit Lite in SSP, my game "hitches" briefly every time a Redstone Timer within 10 blocks of me 'ticks'. I am not sure if it is the sound of them ticking or what, but it has taken me some extensive troubleshooting to figure that the timers were the source of the trouble. This normally wouldn't be a big issue except for the fact that I LOVE pneumatic tubes and Red Power machinery used with them. The "assured delivery" and "no overflow / spill out" features are extremely important to me. This means that I actually have about 6 timers in my base at any given time.. all pulsing Filters and Transposers. That brings me to my current conundrum: Is there a way to use Pneumatic Tubes and Red Power machines.. without providing redstone pulse via timer?
  6. Hook them up in... parallel? I have to admit, I'm not sure I knew that was possible. Hmm, I'll have to experiment with that and see how it works. On an unrelated note.. I added a "buffer chest" for each sorting machine to pull from. That seemed to have ironed out the kinks for the time being.
  7. Okay.. so here goes my attempt at a step by step setup description. (Thanks to all who can help with this!) Step 1. Diamond Chest sitting on the "input side" of Sorting Machine #1. This machine is set to Auto Pull (the four arrows in a circle) for mode and the "All Random" mode that does singles not stacks. Step 2. Sorting Machine #1 has pneumatic tube connected to the "output side" that goes three places. Black (a chest), White (another chest) and Red (the default "unknown item" route). Red connects to the "input side" of Sorting Machine #2. Step 3. The whole setup repeats with each sorting machine using the "default color" as Red, which then feeds into the next machine. Step 4. This configuration is repeated exactly until Sorting Machine #6, where I have the Red "unknown item" pipe dumping into another Diamond Chest. I originally had the mode set to default (setting #1, not setting #2) and I had Sorting Machine #1 running off a redstone timer (set to 1 second, if I remember right). System worked just fine that way for a few days, until I started going out and doing some mining and it had to do a large amount of sorting... which somehow caused it to seize up. Since the system has stopped working I have tried removing the timer, setting it to Auto Pull mode (four arrows in a circle) after manually removing and replacing each sorting machine (and reconfiguring each one as well). Now no matter what I do.. it does nothing as soon as I give it power, beyond pulling the first stack of items from the starter chest. If this isn't descriptive enough, I can post screenshots.
  8. Running the recommended version of Tekkit Lite, I seem to be having no end of aggravations with my Sorting Machines. I've got 6 of them set up in a chain, with each machine feeding into 2 chests (for a total of 12 chests). The first sorting machine is pulling from a chest, and is on a redstone timer set to 1 second (if I set it any faster my machine starts lagging). The rest of the chain of sorting machines are NOT timer pulsed as I found this just confused the issue in Tekkit Classic. The setup was initially designed with each sorting machine pushing to two chests and a barrel, but once a barrel filled up (say with dirt) then the entire sorting system stopped functioning until the barrel was no longer 'full'. So I took the barrels out of the equation entirely. As the setup stands right now.. the first sorting machine has simply stopped pulling from its adjacent chest and quits routing items. I tried picking it up, putting it back down and reconfiguring it. The first half dozen times this actually fixed the issue, unfortunately the problem kept repeating enough that now simply 'rebooting' the machine no longer fixes the issue. I have got on to pickup and reconfigure all of the sorting machines, but nothing ever gets pulled by the first machine. There is more than enough power to go around, and plenty of clear and concise color coding on the pneumatic tubing. I simply cannot figure out why the system keeps seizing up.
  9. I've done enough coding to know that I should respect the mod developers and not bug them asking for time tables. Hence my leaving Pahimar in peace so he can make something awesome with EE3 !
  10. Thank you for putting it that way, Teraku. Very informative! At least now I know that's not something I can pursue, so I'll just start hoping the new EE3 updates come soon. (Yeah right.)
  11. I would love to have a variant of Tekkit Lite that re-adds EE2 components back into it. Yes I realize this is probably stupid but I miss my cheating magic, darn it. Is it remotely possible to peel out EE3.. and replace it with EE2?
  12. Since Tekkit Lite was updated to 0.5.8 didn't they update Forge as well? (The reason I ask is because I want to install Optifine but do not want the weird "liquids not flowing" bug I had with it earlier.)
  13. Well the problem started occurring right away, with just a simple cobblestone Furnace and no macerator.. putting straight ORE in. Still happens when I'm putting DUST into an Electric Furnace or Induction Furnace. (shrug)
  14. This is happening with the starting "Cobblestone Furnace", the Iron Furnace and the Induction Furnace.
  15. So here's what I have figured out from my SSP of Tekkit Lite: All the ore.. is pretty much the same. If I go mine a ton of silver or copper then the game will just call it "Copper Ore" or "Silver Ore". If I Macerate all of it, I just get stacks of "Copper Dust" or "Silver Dust"... no problem. Once I run them through a furnace to smelt them, THEN the problem starts. I can divide a stack of 64 "Copper Dust" in half, smelting 32 of it completely and waiting for the result... getting 32 "Copper". Then I smelt the second stack of 32 seperately, and get 32 "Copper Ingots" (a seperate type). Which order which one comes up in seems completely random as a result of the smelting process. If I smelt an entire stack of 64 "Copper Dust" I will get a single stack of 64 .. of one of three random types of Copper ingots in the game. It all happens during the smelting process, not during the mining. I am not having multiple types of ore spawn. Rather multiple types of INGOTS are being created during the Smelting process. So... how do I correct this in my SSP?
  16. Okay so my game client updated to 0.5.8 last night and this issue seems to have been resolved in the process. Yay!
  17. I have seen various servers that give users the use of the /nick command, so they can define a nick-name. I'm not sure if this is global or chat only tho, to be honest.
  18. So I have had my files checked and the structures are correct. Moved the zip file to another host and the launcher actually DID download it this time. Even went through unpacking. Still Vanilla Minecraft however. :(
  19. I think the "Clear Cache" button is the thing I was searching for, it's making my setup testing a lot easier. Thank you!
  20. Following SCT's video I bundled together the contents of Tekkit Lite with ExtraBiomesXL. Put them into a zip file as he recommended and placed them in my dropbox "Public" folder. I get the public share link for this (also tried viewing the webpage for the file and getting the "Download Button" url link) and wound up the Technic Launcher. Picked "Custom Modpack 1" (the first slot) aand hit Options. In options I plugged in the URL from Dropbox on the "Custom ZIP" line, hit "Okay". Then started up that custom modpack. I saw a progress bar start up, checking for new versions of Minecraft. It then logged me in.. and started up Vanilla Minecraft. No mods installed, nothing. I never saw the progress bar actually download or install anything. No crashing (so I cannot post a crash log unfortunately). I'll tussle with it and see if I can figure it out, nevermind everyone.
  21. I've been trying to figure out how to get Tekkit Lite and ExtraBiomesXL cooperate and play nice. It is not going well so far, however.
  22. Anyone perchance have a version of ExtraBiomesXL brewed up to already work with Tekkit Lite?
  23. Thank you for the links. And no this is just SSP, no server involved. Hopefully these are not difficult to install!
  24. I actually have been having rather extensive arguements with the new launcher; it will not download the custom mod ZIP file I tell it to, no matter how hard I try. So I figured I would just try manually wedging things together.
  25. If I plug another mod into the Tekkit Lite mods folder (provided it is compatible), will it work? Or will the Technic Launcher overwrite it / erase it?
