So where do you get infinite lava in the nether? At some dimension of machinery you end up sucking your nether empty...

Hello, Im currently setting up a testserver for Tekkit 3.0.3 (before I migrate my real one to it) and I would like to try out some other Plugins. On my old Tekkit 2 Server I run following (main) Plugins: PermissionsEx WorldEdit + WorldGuard (for anti-grief protection of areas) Lockette (since LWC had serveral issues, for player chest protection) iConomy ShowCaseStandalone (for more reliable Player-Shops, since the trade-o-mat was bugged) NoCheat (although we had to disable a lot since we allow most of EE) LogBlock (to identify griefers) And for fun: Fakie, Jail For Tekkit 3 Im planning to change my server-gameplay a bit. I dont want players to get infinite ressources without working that easily. So I plan to deactivate almost everything from EE via the mod_EE.props, only leaving the Phil. Stone. Also I would like to disable the UU-Matter Fab, since I dont want players to spam the world with solars to get infinite Ores or a Quantum Suite (since that makes them invulnerable and PvP senseless). According to that, Im thinking of installing following plugins: 1. Some kind of permission handling (dividing users into groups like Admin, Mod, VIP, Member, Guest) -> PermissionsEx But I notice that if I install it (PEX comes with Modifyworld and ChatManager) ModifyWorld and ChatManager seem to have issues. Edit: Issues fixed: You still need to enable them in their config files, default they are off. 2. Some kind of area protection. Since my users would like to have "Factions" together with WorldGuard. 3. Some kind of Grief-Protection or general improved logging system. Would you recommend Guardian? Or should I stay with Logblock? 4. Do I still need a Shop Plugin or did they fix the Trade-O-Mat bugging that hard? 5. Do I still need Lockette? Or is that feature integrated into "Factions"? What Plugins do you run? Which do you recommend? Do you have answers to my questions?

Thats totally wrong. VPS are virtual instances that run on a special dedicated hardware. So sometimes you have 4 VPS on a single dedicated server. VPS will ALWAYS be slower compared to a dedicated server. I made own experiences with VPS. Usually if you just wanna try something out or for maybe 2-3 Players they will be fine. Also they are much cheaper than dedicated ones. But if you want to run a bigger community (like for me, I run a Tekkit-Server with average 8 Players on it, on the evening often up to 16) you really need a powerfull dedicated server. So: VPS for just a very few players (starts from 6 € per month) Dedicated for lots of players (often more than 60 € per month) I dont say VPS are evil; they are great for testing things out and for flexibility. But if you want high-performance you better go for a dedicated.

If the server tick-rate breakes down, I guess the time till items will be despawned will break down. More often I experience, that it is the client that looses massive FPS due to displaying all thoose blocks. If you open your Inventory there is an "Options" Button on the lower left side. In that menue you can disable items laying on the ground, so you can speed up the FPS of your client. After that, you can clean up the mess. I doubt there also exists a command to delete all items laying around, but I cant remember how it was...

Tekkit-Server Admin-Plugins Help
firstdeathmaker replied to firstdeathmaker's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
You can and need to configure noCheat for thoose mods. For example, it prevents flying, although some items of EE provide flying. So people will be kicked if they try to fly. It also prevents Buildcraft Quarries from building their grid. But all thoose things you can configure. @ saiek: what do you want with my .jar? noCheat and LWC are plugins that dont change the actual Tekkit.jar. One hint for others: Often you can use the newest version of the plugins instead of the older version for Bukkit 1.1 R4. Just give it a try! -
As far as I know there aren't RedPower2 Pumps in Tekkit 2.1.1. That doesn't play nice all the time. I build a double-power plant in that manner but somehow buckets disapppeared over time. Also it creates a big CPU load since usually you hook up 9 or more water mills on one pool. Every time a bucket is pulled from the deployer it takes some CPU power, making this inefficent for large amounts. The final stage of power production are only HV-Solars. Nothing can beat them, but they are very expensive. On a former server I played on, we used to have 64 or more HV's hooked up to Matter-Fab's. Transmitting something about 32k EU/tick. But you should build yourself a solar panel fabrication, otherwise you run mad producing them. Once you have a running matter-fab you can use UU-Matter to produce more Iron and Coal and everything you want. Its an infinite loop, like the collectors and condensers from EE with the difference that it takes a lot longer to come to that point where you dont need any more power and you storage systems are overflowing with UU-Matter.

Hello, I tried the "search" but haven't found something really usefull. Im running a very small Tekkit server for about 2 weeks now, but im still working on setting everything up. So I'm still looking for some plugins and how to use them. Especially Admin-Plugins. What I did so far: PermissionEx, NoCheat, LWC, ChatManager, Modifyworld. All working fine after some configuration. I also tried to install WorldGuard, but somehow it doesn't work, although it shows up if I type /plugins. I would also like to install some kind of logging tool. I know of "Logblock", but I can't find a version that fits to our current Craftbukkit Version 1.1 R4. So my first question: Is there a Logging tool you recommend? What version of that tool? second: Do you use WorldGuard? Does it work for you? What version are you using? (I tried the one for 1.1 R4 and the one before). Thanks for any answers.

WoldGuard Installation Issue
firstdeathmaker replied to firstdeathmaker's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
@Forfeit: Doesn't help, still wont create the correct folders. @ kysoto: The name right out of the .zip is "WorldGuard.jar". Should I change that? -

Yea, thank you for moving. It was really my fault, I should have looked twice before I posted. -
WoldGuard Installation Issue

oO one line of text would have had the same effect! Can a moderator please move this topic? -
Hello there, im trying to get WoldGuard to work on my Tekkit Server, but somehow it refuses to do: I use the WorldGuard version "R: WorldGuard 5.5.1 for CB 1.1-R4 Feb 25, 2012", I put it into the plugins folder and start the server. But it doesn't create a "WorldGuard" folder in the plugins folder. If I go into the game and I type "/plugins", WorldGuard is listed and green. Anybody a hint how to solve that?

How would you customize EE to make it balanced?
firstdeathmaker replied to Naturam's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
Actually, you can use IC2 as well to produce a lot of things: With 64 HV Solars connected directly to a Mass Fab it will output 1 UU Matter per second. At that point you have the same effect as with EE, just that it takes a bit longer to reach that point. I think the bigger problem is, that you can transfer everything with EE, so you dont need to gather that many "specific" ressources. Like you can just setup a cobble gen and produce ores. But on the other hand: People ALWAYS try to get ressources due automatisation. So you have to decide if the people should build massive amounts of quarries or get that through EE or Industrial Craft. -
Hmm, try to connect the lava generators directly to the Mass-Fab. That way you can push even more than one HV-Package per tick into it. On a server with Tekkit we used to have 64 HV-Solars Feeding a mass fab, resulting in putting out 1 UU per Second without scrap (dont ask how long it took us to come that far...)

Im lauging at you already cause you really think playing a game is anything productive. I dont care if that all becomes obsolete or broken, cause then I just start a new map and having fun to build another base Minecraft is not about HAVING a nice base, but about CREATING a nice base. -
BTW was the first mod I installed for minecraft. It fits very good into the original minecraft and has a lot of new things in it. Also the mechanic part is quite cool. From the mood its more Minecraft than any of the other Technic or Tekkit ones. But also its very incompatible. And I think it doesn't fit into the mood of Technic-Pack, cause most of the features that technic offers are more efficent than the BTW ones. One example: The Hatch is like the Diamond Mining Pipe or the RP2 Sorter, but it isn't that reliable cause you transport the items via water.

A nice concept for tekkit/technic
firstdeathmaker replied to pieiscool32's question in Technic Launcher
Sorry, but it seems as if you don't have a clue what you are talking about. Just one example: != I dont actually get what you want to say though: Do you mean streaming like OnLive? You know that you need a lot of Hardware behind, a good and permanent internet connection and a big company behind it? The main thing the Tekkit-Guys are doing right now is to put all thoose mods together, altering the Spoutcraft Client a bit and resolving a lot of issues. But setting up a Onlive-Like enviroment is a lot of more work. And im pretty sure the onlive-guys dont use a standard-vm solution if they use it at all. Also why should users like that? Im running quite a good machine here and I haven't a very good internet-connection. Why should streaming a 1080p Image stream work better for me? Also I would loose the whole control: If I want to install an additional Addon to Technic, that wouldn't be possible that easy any more. I think you just heard to many commercials about Onlive etc. and you are thinking its the solution for every problem. Let me tell you: It isn't. You whole post is full of cool words like "cloud", "virtual machine" and "stream" but you dont really seem to know what that is or how it is done. -
Hi, I was wondering how to find out the versions of the mods included in a certain release of Tekkit. On this Website it only says WHICH mods are in it, but not what versions. That is quite important if you want to figure out what already works or not. The same for the normal Technik. I would be glad if someone could tell me...

Actually I made one, but than technic crashed (without error report) and all I did was gone. Now I have the nuclear power plant and so I get enough juice! -

Nice tidy base, but somehow your diamond factory isn't working correctly, can that be? The condenser in the wooden box isn't connected to anything but a pipe that isn't putting anything in it. I think you missed the relays? Edit: Ah, now I got it. In that version of Thaumcraft your are using, the condensers would take everything that is in them and convert it to the target item. In my version (I think im using the newest here from technic) thats not the case, so your machine isn't working correct. -
