Break it with an pickaxe or steal his fuel.
You can also exit the game when in singleplayer and log on again. The turtle programming stops when the build in server stops.

Edit: Right click on it and press Ctrl+R for 2 seconds. It will reboot.
You can try a shorter tunnels like 'tunnel 64' or even shorter.

    Lasers, eh?

    Yeah, nope.

As for the materials... a quarry may be a good idea. Or two. Maybe three.

Sidenote: AE is easy and cheap... AE2 (1.7.10) is a horror with the chance of nightmares.

    You need:
one ME Controller one ME Drive one Crafting Terminal one Storage Cell to put in the ME drive (4k for the start) for the simplest network.

Place all these blocks next to each other, put the storage cell in the ME drives first slot and connect the power from your power system to the ME Controller and you're done.

If you add more storage cells to your ME drive you can forget about 20 chests and keep all your stuff in one block.
Keep in mind to store thousands and millions of the same items (cobblestone, dirt etc) in Deep Storage Units.

You can put a Storage Bus to the side of the DSU (increase the priority on the bus) and connect it to your ME Network using ME Cable.
Now your dirt and cobblestone will be visible in the terminal when actually stored in the DSU.

True. You can do with with MFR... once for every nether start. You can do it also with qCraft or AE multiple times. I was referring to the AE solution.

    Edit:

Laser drill will give you every Ore you can find in the game for the cost of energy. Nether ores included.

Mystcraft Age - a defined by the player dimension with configurable weather, day/night cycle, colors, blocks, liquids, Ores etc. More here.

You can make a sea world filled with Resonant Ender......... or Fuel.

You pack a bunch of Symbols (in a strictly defined way with specified order) to a book and go for a journey (with a Linking book in the pocket). The dimension could be beautiful but it can be also deadly or poisonous (like burning in the sun deadly).

EvilOwl got a reaction from CXXIVLDIVL in Mystcraft basics. Link Books. Basic teleporter.
    Hi guys.

Finally have some time for a short tutorial for the newbies.

Have you wanted to travel really quick to your oil field desert?
Maybe you've been in a sticky situation underground and needed a quick getaway?
You are sick of the pigment coming out of your portal?

Never fear, Mystcraft Link Books are here.
You can get away fast to your base, return from the Nether or setup a teleporting outpost somewhere in the quarry site and the other in your home.

Here's a quick tutorial for the Link Books with Mystcraft.
I will not discuss the basics of NEI here. You will need to find some recipes yourself.

    ---------------------------

Chapter One: Standard Link Book (teleport from other dimensions).

    1. You will need an ink mixer, oh here's one (the wood planks colour is not important):

    2. We need to place it somewhere...

    3. How about right clicking it...

Yes, you will need an ink vial and some paper, go get it, kill some squids and grow some sugar cane / put some wood in the pulverizer, craft some ink vials.

    4. Put the ink vial and paper in the left slots or shift click to auto fit them.

(Oh, it turned black and you've got an empty vial and something in the right side.)

    5. In the bottom right slot is the linking panel. Get it from there.

(What do you do with it?)

    6. You can craft a Link Book. You need some leather and a crafting table.

    (A grey book... Pffff...)

    7. It is unlinked. You need to link it first do a destination (to a spot). Grab it and put it in your hand.

    8.  Right click with it in the air (use it). You will see:

    (What the hell is this...?)

This is the the target for this book. Overworld (the target dimension) because you've linked it here to this very spot where are you standing now (target coordinates).

    9. Press E or Esc to exit...

Yeah. It's green now (it is linked).

    Can you test it? No.

This is a standard Link Book with teleporting capabilities to a different dimension.

This won't teleport you from overworld to overworld. Only from other dimensions to get back.

Yes, you can test it in the Nether.

    10. Go to a different dimension.

    11. Right click with it in your hand.

    12. Click the blue-ish area on the right side. Yes, it looks better now. In the overworld it was greyed out or something.

(What in heavens is this...? What's that sound...?)

And you are in the spot again. Just fine and everything. But wait....

    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .

(Where's the book?!? It's gone. Where is it?)

    Right where you left it.

Mystcraft teleports you, not the book.

You've got teleported. The book didn't. It never does. It's there where you left it.

(Wait a minute... It has health - hearts?)

Mystcraft book when left on the ground (it's an entity) has its health and can be 'killed'.

Beware when leaving a book down it can get damaged and go.. puff.

To pick it up right click on it on the ground (don't kick it to the lava) and drag it from the left side of the book GUI to your inventory (when grabbed the books GUI will close and show inventory).

If you want to avoid the book dropping craft a Bookstand....

....and put it down in the source location...

...then put the book on it (right click)

And there you go. You made it to the end of chapter one.

Now you have a working one way teleporter from other dimensions. You can setup a reverse path to it. Link the book in the Nether and carry it home and place on a Bookstand (no more pigmen).

This one can be stationary (Bookstand) or portable when in other dimensions (carry the book by your side) but it will be dropped when you use it without a Bookstand.

Warning: Linking books are very fragile, even on a Bookstand. One direct hit of a Ghast fireball and you can be stranded here for ever.

    TL;DR

    1. Craft ink mixer
    2. Fill with ink and paper
    3. Craft Link Panel
    4. Craft Link Book with leather
    5. Link it (right click), goes green
    6. Go to other dimension
    7. Use book
    8. Magic. Teleported me home.
    9. Where's the book?
    10. I'll put it on a Bookstand next time.

    ---------------------------
Chapter Two: Link Book with intra-linking (teleport from anywhere).

This one tells you how to get an Intra linking effect on the book.

    1. Do everything from chapter one from points 1 to 4. Get some pulverized gold (or some ender pearls). One stack should be enough if you're lucky (gold - 64, pearls - 16). I used gold.
    This will bring you to

    2. Throw some pulverized gold to the dark circle (to the ink)

Now the circle starts to change colours.
Seen green. This is an additional positive effect on the produced linking panel.

Seen red. This is an negative effect.

The duration of the colours is the chance you will get an effect. It all is about chances.
I've been lucky today. I've got my resulting panel the second time (with the effect I wanted).

    3. Pull it out of the right bottom slot and hover over it.

You want Intra Linking. Trust me. Don't wish anything more.

If you stumble upon the Disarm effect be very careful as it will strip you from your inventory when teleporting with a book made of that panel.
I'm not responsible for playing with the negative effects in books. I, personally, had my Disarm panel thrown in the trash.

The complete list with the effects for the curious is here.

    4. Go and do everything from points 6 to 9 from chapter one.
Now you have a linked book with Intra Linking effect that can teleport you from anywhere (any dimension) to anywhere (any dimension) and you can teleport inside one dimension from one spot to another (and back with a second Intra Linking Link Book).

    5. Go do something with this new knowledge.

Warning: Linking books are very fragile, even on a Bookstand. One direct hit of a Ghast fireball and you can be stranded here for ever.

If you link a book to a spot and then build a mountain in this area.... I don't know what will happen. Test it yourself...in creative obviously.

You're at the end of chapter two. You've made it.

    TL;DR

    1. Craft ink mixer
    2. Fill with ink and paper
    3. Add some gold
    4. Craft Link Panel with Intra Linking
    5. Craft Link Book with leather
    6. Link it (right click), goes green
    7. Go to wherever you go
    8. Use book
    9. Magic. Teleported me home.
    10. Where's the book?
    11. I left it on a book stand this time.

    --------------------------------------

    Have fun. Don't kill yourself

If you see anything wrong in my starters guide or have some additional info leave me a PM or post it here.

I've got one idea, a challenge: move a vanilla Monster Spawner near your base.

Watch out for MPS overheating, cool it with some addons.

You can also make a Mystcraft age (take a link book linked to the overworld with you). If you are bored try to find a Division Sigil and make your way to the Deep Dark (hint: unstable ingots will kill you even in the powersuit).

If you ever find yourself in a dark dimension with creepy sounds and red eyes chasing you - drop a post here and write about it

Easier way to obtain emeralds: none.
Harder way to obtain emeralds: Laser Drill with Lime Focus. Very power hungry. Like 20000RF/t hungry with all four prechargers.

Liquiducts have a filter with Pneumatic Servo and a bucket of fluid in the filter settings. This needs to be done on the tank input.

Store mob essence in a Drum. Later you can store it in the ME Network with Extra Cells. This needs ME network upgrades and additional parts.

Edit: I remember when I've set a Laser drill with 8 Lime Foci and started doing something else the laser generated over 15 stacks of emeralds. It was all well spent in the village for Mystcraft Notebooks Then I've made a mystcraft age with gold ore spheres.... quarry everywhere The MPS suit helped a lot because the age was poisonous.

EvilOwl reacted to asede in How to install Bukkit Plugins on a Tekkit Server (Step by Step)
Alright so you have this AWESOME idea in your tekkit server but you dont want to do block by block building and would much rather used World Edit to build it faster?

Are there pesky kids greifing your server because you have no protection plugin to prevent from breaking blocks?

Well look absolutely NO FURTHER! I have the solution to the good old question of how to get Bukkit plugins on a Tekkit server.

Step 1: Make a copy of your entire server folder.

Step 2: Go to this link:
    http://files.minecraftforge.net/Cauldron/

find the version that your tekkit server is running (currently mine is 1.6.4 so you, most likely, will want 1.6.4 also) but if you dont know the version of your tekkit server, open your server file and in the root there will be a .jar that says "minecraft.server.<version #>"

The download that you want to click on is called "installer".

Once that downloads, (the file name should be something like "cauldron-1.6.4-1.965.21.89-installer.jar") open it by double clicking it (its a jar file, but it can still be run as an executable)

Step 3: So a nice little window will open that says "Minecraft Forge" and there should be 3 options to choose from:
    Install Client      2. Install Server

         3. Extract

******(right now, go onto your desktop and make a new folder. name it whatever you want)*******

Once you have made the new folder, Select "Install Server" and then below that is a bar with a location to your appdata folder. You dont want to extract it to your appdata folder, just extract it to the folder that you just created. So to change that go to the right of the location bar and click on the "..." button and map to your "desktop" and then find that new folder you made and click that, now in the lower right of your windows explorer window click "open".

So now the location bar that originally had appdata in it, should say something along the lines of "c:usersyourusernameDesktopwhatever the name of the folder you made is" so now click on "ok" in that window.

That minecraft forge window should close and a new smaller window should pop up saying "downloading libraries" with a green status bar below it. Once that completes, it will close and a new dialog box will say "Successuflly downloaded minecraft server, downloaded 19 libararies and installed cauldron"

Step 4: So now if you go to your Desktop and find that new folder. Inside that new folder should be 2 .jar files and a folder named "libraries"

Now go to where your copy of your tekkit server folder is and open it. Inside that should be a folder named "libraries" too.

Put both the new folder with the 3 files in it and the copy of your tekkit server folder side by side.

In the new folder open up the "libraries" folder. There should be 8 other folders with the names of:

    com

    commons-lang

    javax

    jline

    lzma

    mysql

    net

    org

Now keep that open and go to your tekkit server copy folder and open up the "libraries" folder inside of that. You should only see 3 folders with the following names:

    lzma

    net

    org

If you see that then you are good to go with the next part!

Step 5: Go back to the New Folder (were gonna call it that from now on) with the 8 folders in the "Libraries" file.

Now take the folder "com" and drag it straight over to your copied tekkit server folder.

Do the same thing with: commons-lang, javax, jline, and mysql

So now if you look in the New Folder you should only see 3 files:

    lzma

    net

    org

and if you look over to the copied tekkit server folder you should see:

    com

    commons-lang

    javax

    jline

    lzma

    mysql

    net

    org

If you have exactly that, you are doing GREAT! Alright lets keep going, almost done!

So now open up "net" in both New Folder and Copied Tekkit Server folder. Notice how New folder has more files than Coped Tekkit Server folder does?

Take the files "md-5" and "sourceforge" from New folder and drag them into Copied Tekkit Server folder's "net". So now the only files in New Folder are "minecraft" and "sf" while Copied Tekkit server has 4 files.

Now open up "sf" in both windows. The New Folder should have one more file (trove4j) than Copied Tekkit Server folder. Drag "trove4j" to Copied Tekkit server folder. Good now go back to "libraries" in both windows.

Now "org" is different too so do what we did previously. Take the files that are NOT in Copied Tekkit Server folder and drag them TO Copied Tekkit Server folder. (You should be left with "ow2" and "scalalang" in New Folder)

That should be all that you have to do with the dragging files from one folder to another.

GOOD JOB YOURE MAKING AMAZING PROGRESS! DONT STOP NOW! YOUR ARE ALMOST THERE!

Final step: Go back to the root of both New Folder and Copied Tekkit server folder.

From the New Folder, take the file "cauldron-1.6.4-1.965.21.89-server.jar" and drag it straight over to Copied Tekkit server folder.

So now you are all done with the New folder. You can close that window but keep Copied Tekkit server folder open.

So you see the "tekkit.jar" file? Delete that. Now take "cauldron-1.6.4-1.965.21.89-server.jar" and right click it. Go to "rename" and rename it "tekkit" (the .jar is automatic)

So now if you go to the "launch.bat" and run it, the server should start up and create a "plugins" folder with another folder in it that says "pluginmetrics" within it. stop the server once its done setting up.

SO THERE YOU GO! YOU DID IT! YOU CAN ADD AS MANY BUKKIT PLUGINS AS YOU WANT TO YOUR TEKKIT SERVER!!!! next step, installing plugins (this is an easy step)

Alright so now go to google or bing or yahoo or whatever you use. Lets first test to make sure this is all working correctly. So type in the search bar "Essentials files Bukkit" hit enter (or search) and it should be the first link (http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/essentials/files/) now since you are running minecraft server 1.6.4 you have to find the Essential version that matches that. So the fifth column over (Game Version is the title) look for "CB 1.6.4-R2.0" and go to your left and click on the file name of " Essentials-2.12.2" (this is a direct link).

That will take you to a new page and in the upper right hand corner should be "Download" (this is a safe, direct link for the download) you will have to extract the file so you need some sort of zip or rar extractor (i use winrar, its the best in my opinion) and once you extract it, drag over "essentials.jar" (JUST essentials.jar for now, you can add the others later) to your "plugins" folder in you Copied Tekkit Server Folder. Now go to run.bat and let it all setup. Go into your server and if once you connect you should see "no new mail" in yellow text in the lower left of your screen (where in game chat usually shows) that means Essentials in working! Try out a few commands, do /help essentials for all the commands.

Alright well, that wraps  up that! Thank you so much for checking this out! if you have any questions, concerns, help, problems or anything, please leave a comment and i will reply within a day! Enjoy your Bukkit+Tekkit server!

EvilOwl got a reaction from PompanoZombie in Removing IC2 and RP3 wasn't fully compensated
TE4 is out for some time now. Still in beta.

IC2 is always in experimental when new minecraft version mods are forming and going out of beta, like right now.
In the next few months every big mod will end beta and have pretty stable versions for 1.7.10 when IC2 is warning about breaking worlds with experimental for some time now.
ATLauncher already went 1.7.10, FTB has an unstable pack. If those hit stable-ish and IC2 will still be in experimental.....

    One personal thing:
Today I posted 2 issues/sugestions on 1.7.10, they were basically identical for two different mods - IC2 and MFR (common rubber wood).
On MFR I was listened and my issue was labelled, on IC2 I was laughed at.... the issue was closed right away without resolving. Little difference..

Edit: Every modpack needs an **Ore Processing** mod. Which one would that be? - depends on it's state and the modpack devs humour.
IC2, TE, EIO, Mek, GregTech, Factorization they all have machines, you give them power, you get ingots.

Now lets all think - which one would you choose if you were a modpack author? Have you got the time to test them all... or play them all?

Redstone Arsenal tools maybe. You need some resources for that.
Modular Powesuit tool is also great.

You only need Redstone Flux (Thermal Expansion, BigReactors) compatible power sources/transmitters and some Energy Conduits for the power distribution.

If you want turtles you will need a diamond pickaxe - it's in the recipe (not damaged). You can also forget the turtles and go for the diamonds to make a quarry. The choice is yours. Turtles break obsidian instantly, so does the quarry. Turtles need some coal but the quarry needs a lot of power. Again the choice is yours.

Yes. you will need a computer for turtles. It's in the recipe.

For the crash: (if you are in singleplayer only) download simply jetpacks version 0.1.4.1 (precisely this version) and put the jar in your mods directory.
Delete the old 0.1.4 version. You can read about it here.

Pulverize all ores - yes. Smelt the dusts - not all. You will need electrum, invar and some other stuff later. Look up in NEI the recipes for conduits, energy cells and strongboxes (the hardened and better versions).

The rest is up to you. You will need to make some mistakes in-game for it to be fun/little dangerous.

Try to drink milk with a bucket.. Do it outside Not in the base.

When you right click with the backpack in hand you have additional inventory like a portable chest.. Be careful near lava when doing this because you may drop it.

    Edit:
Later when you have more different materials you can make a strongbox, they are lava-proof.
If you have 3 diamonds you can make a mining turtle. He will mine for you but you need to empty his inventory every 3-5 minutes or he will drop it on the ground. He needs some coal to work. Like 8 items of coal for a 3x2x128 tunnel.

Steps in NEI: computer -> turtle -> mining turtle.

Place mining turtle on the ground in front of a wall, right click, type
tunnel 128 then take some coal to his inventory and press Enter.

    Yes. They are next.

You can also set NEI to recipe mode. That way you can left/right click an item and you'll get recipe for the item / recipes containing that item. Not spawning them like in creative (if in singleplayer).
Press E then go to options -> inventory -> change cheat mode to recipe mode.

While watching direwolf20 videos notice some difference in recipes. You can check actual tekkit recipe in NEI. Left/right click in recipe mode or press R or U hovering over the item in cheat mode.

I didn't post Buildcraft spotlight because with a simple gameplay you need only two items: >quarry and a filler.

Edit: As a beginner you should also visit this place. I guess Curunir has something on the topic in his starters guide.

Look in NEI for the itemducts. Press E, on the bottom of the screen in the text box start writing 'itemduct'.

This and this is what I had in mind. This can be done with the opaque itemducts also. They are cheaper.

The vanilla chest is the input and the items are sorted to the (iron chest mod) other chests. One chest is for food, one for ores......... The last chests on the ducts (the ones on the left) need to be without filtering so any item that is not filtered goes there. You can add a filter by making a 'pneumatic servo' and right clicking with it in hand on the connection with the chest and click again with empty hand for the filters GUI.

You can make a low-tech sorting system out of the chests (try copper chests and then silver chests, don't waste your iron for iron chests) and a long row of itemdcuts + pneumatic servos with whitelist filtering.
