Big dig has way more mods than Tekkit, Minecraft's fine with that many mods.

Don't forget about the best part of IC2: IC2 farming. On a more serious note, making an age with nether quartz crystals makes getting quartz quite easy.

I find playing vanilla minecraft to be about 10-20kb/s, haven't tested tekkit myself, but 100kb/s seems a little high.

You could also use a Mystcraft age for your quarries, to keep them from destorying the landscape. You could even item/energy tessaract to transport the power and items automatically, along with a chunk loader of some kind.

Well is possible to just start fresh with the new version? Or do you mean you've deleted everything and it won't even start with a new map/save/everything?

I just found out that the new Big Dig comes out on Monday... so we might end up needing a new map anyways. It removes a lot of stuff though, namely Industrial Craft 2, Red Power 2, and Mystcraft. (If you can't tell by the bolded underlined text, Mystcraft is the mod I'll be missing the most.) Anyways though, this whole troubleshooting deal probably contains more trouble than shooting, and may warrant a map wipe anyways.

Couldn't restore the backup? If so, that is really too bad. Edit: On another note, we should add a picture of the spawn we built to the post once everything gets sorted out. I think that would help this tread quite a bit.
