Avira has apparently fixed the issue. Update your whatevers and hopefully it should not incorrectly flag it anymore.

My theory is that Avira accepts user input. We only just started to get people reporting this recently. I'm guessing someone who doesn't like technic made a false report that it contains a trojan and they flagged it to be safe. Lovely. MSE, Avast, and even the ones notorious for causing issues with the launcher aren't finding this at all so it lends some credibility to my theory. And yeah the whole thing is open source so anyone can just go view the code and make sure. You can bet 100% that if it did have a trojan, flowerchild would be spamming everywhere he could with it. Edit: Oh awesome. I was right, and the community came together to fix it! Awesome guys. :)

A joke. You gave them money and they changed your log in method on you causing you problems. Almost as if they're punishing you for giving them money. Not a literal statement. This would be an unfathomable amount of work for a couple of guys who do this in their spare time for free. It's a nice idea we would like to have some day but probably not soon.

Everyone using Avira is getting this. It would have been on the list with Norton and AVG if we'd known but I'd never heard of Avira until recently. There's no viruses, Avira just doesn't recognize the launcher. This is why most software you install tells you to disable your antivirus in the installation guides. Just to avoid complications with firewalls and whatnot. Set it as an exception or turn off your AV while you install it and you shouldn't have any problems. If you're actaully worried about viruses, the launcher is open source and anyone can view the code online, so if there were bad code everyone would know.

Redpower and IC2 just updated to 1.2.5 recently so all the serious work is just getting done now. Icewolf is working hard on it and it's looking good so far. Lots of shit to iron out though of course. No ETA available as usual. Sever OPs should be ignoring dev builds until we say otherwise. Just use what works. Dev builds are for previewing only.

I....don't agree? I think it could have easily been amazing before that final stage of "now lets give it to the marketing team". I would pay far more then I should for copies of spore in development.

Yeah, you're opening the jar like an archive, which it technically is, but you need to open it with java so it treats it like an executable. You should be able to use the .exe no problem though. What antivirus do you have?

That's pretty much the only thing he could have done that would have actually got him punished. I'm surprised he didn't just post it in here. If you're surprised to see admins and mods being harsh or (gasp!) using swears, you'll have to just get used to it. We're very strict here and it's for a reason. The MCForums are very lax and don't care about quality. As a result the MCForums are complete shit. Curse doesn't care about them, and their moderators are all inept children. They're a bloated worthless mess. Yogscast forums? A nice idea but they're also pretty worthless. The admins and moderators there are all nice and coddle and baby the posters. As a result the majority of their posters are horribly spoiled and self entitled you have to scroll for pages in any thread to find anything of worth amidst the idiotic posts. Both places, there's rarely a post larger then the "signature" under them. It's so bad there that they can't even remove an 18 year old admin they paid who's stopped doing his job, without the entire community splitting and getting in an emotional battle about rights and fair treatment! There was even backlash when they fired a guy who was stealing from them for 6 months. Both places contain more stupid memes and pointless drivel then actual content. These forums don't. These forums have tons of actual content and useful information. People think before they post and there is much more quality to them. We're hard and we have to be assholes sometimes, but this system works. I couldn't respect myself or let this place continue if I started being polite and never said a bad word or told anyone they're wrong, because these forums would just become another MCForums or Yogscast forums. That would be miserable.

That game was a huge disappointment, and also EA games is a terrible company that doesn't understand that they're fighting a losing battle against piracy. DRM is bad and so was the finished version of Spore. I can't believe they even took out the water stage.
