Count me out, he actually seems to be quite pissed off at these guys. It is however early days... We should invite them to settle their differences in the P.A.I.N.S forum! EDIT: Also the company is also suing EA and possibly Ubisoft. Meaning that they are possibly responsible for the awesome always on DRM used by EA and Ubisoft! They just get better and better.
-
I think it is the actual code that checks to see if you have bought the game before giving you access. They sued Microsoft for the "Try before you Buy" technology and are using the same patent. I don't really see how they are related, but I could be misreading/not understanding. I only have basic legal knowledge (a few uni courses but nothing in depth) so I may be misinterpreting the wording of the patent and the PDF provided by Notch. Likely it is the "DRM" that is included in almost everything these days.
-
Yes I am aware of the fact that it was likely a typo. It amused me that in this otherwise pompous sounding legal jargon, the writer managed to misspell one of the most important words in the document. I have never heard of the plaintiff before but have read that he/she/they may have already settled or won in court with Microsoft for an infringement of the same patent. EDIT: After some further research I have found that Uniloc (the company that is suing Mojang) sued Microsoft and won. The decision was then overturned by a judge who ruled in Microsoft's favour. Uniloc then appealed that ruling and won. Microsoft finally settled out of court to the tune of $388 million. Also he is the co-inventor of the indispensable, everyday item I am sure you are familiar with, the "shade saver" (cords used to keep sunglasses on your face; aka sting tied to sunglasses)
-
So it apears that Mojang is the target of another copyright lawsuit. This time by a company that has patent rights for "a system and method ... for preventing unauthorized access to electronic data stored on an electronic device." What do you guys think about this? Just curious because apparently the plaintiff has already won/settled with Microsoft. Also, I was reading through the PDF Notch made available and noticed this... "Android based applications for use on cellular phones and/or tablet devices that require communication with a server to perform a license check to prevent the unauthorized use of said application, including, but not limited to, Mindcraft." What game is this? Notch/Mojang is making a new game?!

A new Idea for the Technic team! Technic team please read!!

What that button actually means is exactly what is written "Donate to the MODDERS" the Technic Team have little to no involvement in the development of the mods. the donation button on the launcher donates to the modders who created the mods that are included in the Technic/Tekkit/Yogbox etc. Packs. -
The pack I am using works fine. I got mine from the bdcraft site and added them myself so maybe the people who simply downloaded someone else's compilation is a little buggy.

That is what I meant. He is actually providing a service and "earning" the money instead of simply asking people for money. In addition he doesn't demand money. what I meant to say (I wasn't clear enough) was that I would be more likely to give someone like him money rather than someone who simply asked for change outside a store.
-
Personally I am much more likely to give money to someone who uses their ingenuity instead of simply begging on a corner

Ya that's actually what I was thinking. I got Ys: Origins and really enjoyed it . But I agree that making it a full map would not respect the concept of the game. I would love to help again (if you'll let me of course) with making the tower bigger or even making a new map. As for making Gravity compatible, you should post here in the modder's area to see if anyone could help with that (I can only do very basic coding)
-
That is more than I expected, so thank you JOHN with a curious period after your name.

Just finished your map, didn't see any game breaking bugs. Looks really good and polished now. One nitpicky thing, right at the end, there is a stack of obsidian cut slabs on the ground that could be removed. (See what I mean by nitpicky lol) Great map, challenging, but not hair rippingly so and not excruciatingly long. Really great map, and you should really consider making it into some sort of full adventure. Also did you update the OP with the newest version? EDIT: I see that you did :)
-
Great thanks for the help I think I can get this working
-
So if I wanted it to be compatible for both I would edit the vanilla class now, and when it is updated, I would edit the forge class, correct?
-
Genius solution As for the texture pack I will see how much work it will be. If its too much I may just not bother. EDIT: On a slightly related note, would you recommend I pick-up Ys: Origins on Steam? Its on sale for like 3 bucks.
-
It would need to be compatible with the current dev build of the Technic pack so I assume that it would conflict with forge.

Not a mod so much as a tweek to the way in which dispensers operate. In vanilla Minecraft, they dispense items randomly from each slot, this makes it difficult to use when creating adventure maps or traps with two parts. I'm not even sure if it can be done, but I figured asking wouldn't hurt. So is it possible and if so, could someone either help me or point me in the right direction?

Nice catches bwblazerkid As for the texture pack, I talked to Rhodox and he is fine with me using his customizer to create the base, then I was thinking of simply using textures that are already either part of the painterly pack or another pack to use as the mod added blocks. No art skill needed, I was looking at some images of the Ys: Origins game on Google and got some ideas. To fix the bed problem, you need to raise the height of the roof by one block. UPDATE: I found the reason blazer got the diamond first try, dispensers dispense items randomly, with equal probability. Will update if I think of a way to fix this. RE-UPDATE: If you used an Ejector from IC2 (I think) it might be more reliable (not sure) After testing, I have found that ejectors do not work Still trying to come up with an idea...

Haha well Coke did initially contain cocaine (in small quantities) thus the name, Coke so you're not too far off base. PS Yes I did just use the correct form of you're and too on the internet! mind = blown
-
Yep I had the same issue, it will be an easy fix though (I hope)
-
I will try to replicate that... (Also try not to double post, use edit) Confirmed, to fix this Xylord, just create a bed where you spawn and use it (you can't break it after however)
-
bwblazerkid, you are using the old version of the map make sure to download the updated one. The map maker has replaced the ghasts with something less destructive, but just as deadly :)
-
Hehe not apologizing its just that you should have seen the list that I PM him with lol and I'm not quite done For the room with the ogres I would suggest (get used to that word I just reaslised I have said it about 50 times) moving the dispenser to the roof so that the player can't simply grab the diamond and run. In the TNT room the creeper explosion destroyed the lever meant to move the block to allow access to the ladders. They also destroyed the dispensers (second part is not gamebreaking but if it is fixable I would suggest doing so) In the end I suggest giving the player a few extra portal blocks. When I was in the end I needed to spawn some in when the enderdragon attacked me and destroyed them. Also make sure to put a sign down telling the player what they are for so they don't use them incorrectly (place the chest after the jumping puzzle so there can be no cheating) Have you tried it yet Adlersch?
-
I will now do my best to break your map again I was considering perhaps creating a custom texture pack using the Painterly pack as a base. How would you feel about that? Me again, small bug, when you fist spawn there is a stack of about 50 cooked steaks sitting behind you. I doubt this is intentional so if you simply waited for a few minutes until they de-spawned it would fix that (unless it is intentional) Also, there is one chest that is empty that I believe should contain the iron leggings (at least they did in the previous version) (again may be intentional) Also (I know I am really nitpicky) but is there a reason you spawn at level 8? EDIT: The ogres that spawn destroy quite a few blocks, in one play through they ended up destroying my bed and then the floor, sending me to my doom The second bed (room with pickaxe chest) is still broken. I think it is caused by the signs above the bed
