My Server Set up so far....
xjjon88 replied to Megatarre Corps LLC...'s topic in Server Op Swap Shop
You can use NoItem if you decide to switch. It works great for me. - noitem.(nopick|nodrop|noplace|nobreak|nohold|nowear|nocraft|nouse).(46|126|153|164|214|237|4095|7303|26522|26564|26525|246.5|233|30208*|239|155|150.1|208.2|207|179|223|4303|4304|4305) For example. -
Well it depends how much you pay for your server, the more you pay, the more you need to make back. And it really depends, are you running your server/site as a business or are you running it as a hobby? If you're running it a business, you need much more than just a server. Expand your site, expanding your site will give you more opportunities for monetization. For example, add relevant content. Content brings in visitors, visitors = $$$. Content can be anything, videos, articles, even contests. Remember: content is king. If you're running it as a hobby (i.e. a video game) then your going to have to expect to shell out some money and go into red zone. But remember, you're enjoying it, it's a hobby, rarely do you not have to spend for a hobby. If someone comes a long and donates, then great, their helping out a little bit. I've been running websites for over ten years now, first it started as a hobby and now it's more of a side income. It's tough to make money online, but don't get discouraged. Start by building your site, once you have a successful site, money will flow in. There's no point in slapping ads for your 1c a day if you only have 1000 viewers. You can PM me if you have any questions, I wouldn't mind providing some more pointers.

If I deleted NetherOres mod, and I put it back, will the ores generate back? Or no.

What's wrong with regen? Are you using it correctly?
-
Hello there, I have a similar setup. Except 1gbps port and running on a reg HD instead of SSD. I've had 50~ people with no problem. I would disable world anchors. I've noticed alot of lag is created by players and their machines. Not really the amount of players, but what their doing, especially build craft. A couple of idiots running leaking 64x64 will kill anything quick. I've run them both on windows and linux systems. I prefer windows. It's easier to use for beginners to use.

Oops, silly me. Thanks for the help, really appreciate it, can't believe I missed that. :P

I have a large grief prevention plot that is the same size as spawn, to prevent players from claiming in the spawn. But it is set to trust public, and is an admin plot.
-
The build flag is left default on all the regions. The steps I took when creating the regions are: (I removed the market region and just used the plots to simplify the steps to try and find the problem) /rg define spawn I also set a couple flags for the spawn region (mob-damage and mob-spawning). /rg define plot1 /rg par plot1 spawn /rg addowner plot1 xjjon88 /rg addmember plot1 xjjon88 But once I remove OP from myself, I can't build in plot1 :/
-
Yeah the parents are set properly, but still don't have permission to build. Doesn't the child inherit permissions from the parent? Meaning if build = deny for spawn, then market and plotname would be build=deny too? From what I read in the wiki, deny takes precedence over allow?

Hey guys, Was wondering what your solutions to creating market plots which players can buy for money are. The current plugins I am using are Grief Prevention and WorldGuard, in terms of regions, etc. The way I want to have it setup is like this: So there is one large region for spawn, the inside is the market, and inside the market are the plots. I played around a little with SimpleRegionMarket which uses worldguard but it doesn't seem to work when I place the plots inside a larger region (spawn) that overrides anything I set to the smaller (plot) region. Any suggestions or remedies would be great! Thanks.

You can use world edit to remove said pipes around a region.

I feel as if it can cause a lot, I've noticed a lot of people leaving machines on, and when machines are left on, chests are filled, and items fall on the ground. There's really now way to manage this, especially when your server gets large. You can't effectively police everyone to shut off their machines / make sure they don't over flow. BuildCraft is easier to use, has better documentation, and can be acquired with much less resources and earlier. Quarries are also extremely ugly. Disabling BuildCraft will deter many players from joining, but at the same time keeps your server running smoother.

I think one of the main reasons so many users like to use BuildCraft is because of Yoggscast. Actually many people play Tekkit because they feel "inspired" by yoggscast, which is what my users tell me anyway. I've only watched parts of a few yoggscast episodes but I see they use a lot of BuildCraft and not much of anything else. Do you think disabling BuildCraft completely is a large deterrent for new players looking for a server?
-
I was curious to see what other server operators thought of BuildCraft. What are your opinions and suggestions in regarding allowing/disabling BuildCraft on your server? And your reasons behind it?
-
I'm way in over my head and could really use some help
xjjon88 replied to JunkyPic's topic in Server Op Swap Shop
When installing plugins, download plugins for "1.2.5" as tekkit is not updated to 1.3.1. yet. Also, your server is running Tekkit, as you can see you have "Tekkit.jar" selected. -
I've been playing technic and tekkit fine until today, the chunks don't load until I'm really close to them. Is there a reason for this? I have my view distance set to the maximum and they still are just blank until I get close :/ My computer can handle it because I've been playing like this for a while, it just started up today.

What parts of buildcraft do you recommend be disabled?

I just tested Core Protect and LWC. Here are my results: Now I still need to test with someone else to see if LWC actually protects the blocks from being broken, but for the time being, I need to figure a way to stop core protect from trying to restore pipes, since it leaves the ghost blocks and makes errors.

CoreProtect - Perfect AntiGrief Solution for Tekkit Servers!
xjjon88 replied to Mercury's topic in Tekkit Classic Discussion
I don't believe that CoreProtect rolls back pipes. Edit: I've done a few tests with rollbacks, rollback will not rollback pipes. it will create ghost blocks though that you can see a small outline square, but they are not pipes. it also creates errors because the pipes couldn't be recreated. -
Okay, please share your findings. I will be testing LWC with the various IDs now.
-
Sorry, I wasn't clear enough in my post. the reason I ask is because in NEI the IDs are the "pipe ids" on the build craft wiki, but when core protect tries to roll them back, they become the block id (166) which can't be spawned or it will corrupt your .dat file for that player with it.The actually ids for each pipe to spawn them are 4051-4070. I'm not sure if I have to protect the block ID or the pipe ID. When it's placed down, does the ID change?
-
I have been using coreprotect but it cannot roll back BC pipes, so I was thinking to add the BC pipes to LWC. Now the problem is that when I look up the IDs of the the BC pipes, http://minecraftbuildcraft.wikia.com/wiki/IDs I am not sure which ID to use, the block ID or the pipe ID. Because core protect registers the block id (166), which causes it to give errors. Also, would anyone recommend core protect, or hawkeye? For a tekkit server. Thanks for your help guys.
-
I don't believe CoreProtect rolls back buildcraft pipes. :/
-
So I am looking at this: http://minecraftbuildcraft.wikia.com/wiki/IDs And they give me a block ID and a pipe ID. If I wanted to use LWC to protect them, which would I be using? :/

Okay I will take a look, when using NoItem can I use the same syntax as I did for modify world? With "(" and ")" to list items / permission nodes?
