  1. also, it's ~/appdata/Roaming/.techniclauncher/ Exactly where the .minecraft folder is. If you hit the Windows key, then type %appdata% and hit enter, you'll see it. Also, jesus. Download the launcher already.
  2. Re: Texture Pack [128x] Sphax PureBDcraft [(REAL)Technic 6.0.7 / Tekkit 2.1] Which is why there was the incredulous reaction at the "64x PL0XORZ" posts earlier.
  3. Oh shit, here comes Dad, guys. Better hide the porn.
  4. Seriously, how difficult is it to scrape $27 together to play a game that keeps you interested for far, far longer than a $60 piece of shit from EA?
  5. The dickbag rule is my favorite. Ambiguous rules are the best.
  6. Sorry dudes, wasn't meant to be an advert for a server. I don't do public for a bunch of reasons, constant maintenance and chunkloading bullshit being the least of them.
  7. And also against one of the global rules, I'd wager. Something about advertising or plugging something that makes someone else money.
  8. Re: Texture Pack [128x] Sphax PureBDcraft [Technic 6.0.7 / Tekkit 2.0 and down] This fucking guy. All the people playing technic on a six-year-old computer just peed themselves with happiness. It's a good thing, too, because they'll be needing that liquid to put out the fire that the CPU is gonna start.
  9. Yeah, I just don't have that many friends to play with, and I miss my logistics pipes sometimes. Also, chunk loading is a bitch.
  10. I use my personal rig, handles a 4-man Tekkit server like a champ. Been thinking about making another cheap rig to host the server and be my personal network server. i5-2500k 3.3GHz, sometimes OC'd 8GB 1600MHz RAM 60GB SSD 500GB HDD Gigabyte GTX 560Ti Proposed: i7-2600 or i5-2400 60GB SSD 16GB RAM
  11. Memory usage is because in SSP, once a chunk loads, it stays in memory till you exit the world. In SMP, only the chunks around you (short, normal, far views change the number and radius) are loaded, and they unload when you leave that chunk's threshold. Which is why chunkloaders are necessary when you deal with quarries, engines, IC2 energy, etc.
  12. electric engines -> power teleport pipe -> quarry. Barely any energy degradation (you can fiddle with the teleport pipes' power loss/distance in the configs) and you need chunkloader blocks anyway for when you log out. Might as well, especially if you have a nuclear reactor.
  13. It's around here a few times, but a quarry needs 10MJ/t, if I recall correctly.
  14. No problem. The server really doesn't do many of the things that are graphically taxing on your system. The client has to manage the graphics and stuff, while the server kinda does the calculations for stuff like redstone, machines, and other block updates (I think). So, the load wouldn't really be split, as the graphics part is the most intensive by far. Well, I do suppose that maybe since the server can take advantage of threading, that it may be a little easier on the CPU... but I dunno. Probably no net difference in the end.
  15. Nah, it wouldn't really help, as far as I know. Then again, I'm not really the server-genius around here. All I know is that when I play on my client (not logged into a server), and when I play on the server, the CPU/GPU loads are pretty much the same. Sorry brah :/
  16. Also, does anyone know how the MagicLauncher by sp614x (OptiFine genius) works? This sounds like a prime case for someone to use it, if they want a launcher that JUST installs one mod or the other, and they can choose a little easier. EDIT: Link http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/939149-launcher-magic-launcher-097-mods-options-news/ But yeah, Technic Launcher does its own thing because of how heavily modded Minecraft gets when there are 20+ mods. Picking out a single mod to install would kind of play hell with the system. For what it's worth, though, the GUI on the MagicLauncher is pretty fucking slick (the setup and log tabs, not the reddit and twitter bullshit). nudge nudge
  17. Hmm. Have you checked anything else? Is there another thread about this issue? If not, consider checking mod versions, the "active mod" list from the button on the launcher, the .techniclauncher/technicssp folder, etc. to make sure that nothing went wrong. Try a delete and re-download of the ~/technicssp folder (back up your world saves!). Try a bunch of stuff, if there's not an existing thread addressing this problem.
  18. Quit your bitching at each other, or I will turn this car right the fuck around and we will go back home with no disney world for you two. Now, the TMI-looking thing is, in fact, called NEI, or Not Enough Items (better than TMI, more options, better support, etc. Also not copied from TMI at all). You can get items out of it in SSP by reading a sticky on the subject. InventoryTweaks is a different mod, dealing with chest and player inventories EXCLUSIVELY. It only sorts. That's it. No item hacks. Thaumcraft is not in Tekkit SMP (two creepers, thus the SMP part. Multiplayer) Thaumcraft is in Technic SSP (single creeper, wears sunglasses because he cries a lot due to lack of friends) As for the Thaumcraft recipes, a lot of them need to be made in the crucible or whatever, and since (unlike Redpower) Thaumcraft does not have an NEI subset, you can't see any of those special recipes when you push the fancy little "R" key.
  19. System specs? Java version? Also, there's no way for there to be a techniclauncher folder if the launcher doesn't run, but if it existed, it would be in ~/Library/Application Support/techniclauncher But yeah, to OP: Java 5 and 6 might be fighting over which wants to run the launcher. Check which one is running the launcher, get Java 7 for Mac (if it exists, I know that it ca sometimes be a bitch to get around the Software Update), make sure your java paths are set correctly, check the lwgjl stuff, check the sticky threads. Source: I have a 2010 macbook pro 13", the model with the Core2Duo and not the i-Core series. The launcher runs pretty damn solid on my laptop. I've also gotten it to run on the girlfriend's macbook, which is the same thing. Both run OSX 10.7, latest patch. So basically, I don't know what issue you could possibly be having. Freya: I remember something about 10.6 and back not having Java 7 support--While it's not necessary, it means you can't run Advanced Machines. Sadface Also, different versions of OSX and their different Java distributions could be doing any kind of fuckery to your poor technic launcher, making it unhappy and keeping you from sweet, sweet Technic action. Sorry I can't provide specific kinds of help, but that's all I got. :/ Good luck.
  20. Could you guys please stop ragging on grammar, and try to help the poor guy play the game? That's all (s)he wanted in the first place. Clearly they've put forth some kind of effort, just maybe missed a sticky or something somewhere. Now, I know that we all love pushing the new guys around, but seriously--it seems like there's now a "ShitMinecraftforumSays"-esque feel here. The point of this pack and the forum in the first place is to be helpful to people who want to play Minecraft the way we think it's meant to be played (while keeping the more inane minecraftforum-style comments out of here), not to make fun of and shun everyone who might not be able to speak English fluently or who may not be totally familiar with how shit works. I realize there are stickies and that the whole point is that you have to do research on your own in order to get any help, but still. Being a hostile environment is no way to win converts from the assholes like FlowerChild and such. This makes us no better than them. At least include the helpful links in your snarky comebacks, and try to crack a joke, not just cut someone down. I'd really rather that this forum not become what the rest of the "modding community" think it is--a bunch of prima donna asshats. /rant
  21. This is basically Ender Chests with an extra step. Charging bench mk3, EU detector cable, some redpower logic, ender chests, lapo crystals, and boom. Instant power transmission over huge distances, on-demand and with very little waste and no power loss. Check out Direwolf20's Let's Play series (Season 2, forget the episode #) to get a really good breakdown on how to do this without buildcraft gates.
  22. You mean like this thread? Or any of these stickies? Also I'd take the self-sig off your post if I were you. You're already probie'd, I wouldn't push it.
  23. Aha, that would do it. I couldn't figure it out, and I didn't see it in the bug threads. Dammit. I knew I was gonna look like an idiot. Cheers though. Thanks!
