  1. I just finished troubleshooting an interesting issue on my server. I host it on a secondary machine at home, and I have about 1 MBit/s upstream on my DSL line. This is perfectly fine because I only have 4 other players besides myself, and usually bandwidth usage stays below 25% unless somebody goes exploring and loads a lot of chunks really quickly. Usually. In the past days, however, bandwidth was permanently maxed out, and latency was terrible, even with only 2-3 people connected. I narrowed down that anyone within loading distance of a certain castle was consuming 10 to 15 times as much bandwidth as usual. Yes. One player consuming as much bandwidth as 10 players normally. Now put 3 players there together and watch horror unfold. It turned out to be related to the castle gate. It was set up with frame relays so it could be opened and closed. Really cool, I liked it a lot. But for some reason it was causing this enormous bandwidth hunger, even when sitting idle. And as soon as all the circuitry controlling it was shut off, everything went back to normal instantly. Is that normal for frame relays? Or does it maybe depend on how they are set up?
  2. challenje: Regardles of what happens online, never make real life threats. You CAN get the police sicked on you IRL for doing this. And don't think you're anonymous online, either. In this day and age, everyone and everything is tracked by everyone and everything.
  3. If the chunks are corrupted, then the problem isn't Rei's Minimap, or Tekkit at all. Your world files are damaged. I'm not sure if it would help, but maybe look around if a world editor can help you fix those chunks? Never used one myself though.
  4. That is not entirely correct... Mystcraft ist in Technic SSP, but not available in Tekkit. So it's entirely fair to want it.
  5. Ooh, I see. Well, inconvenient, but I guess the waypoints can be copied over from folder to folder if there's something really important in there...
  6. Different launcher versions maybe?
  7. Yes, they are accessing it via IP, which is dynamic. I'm the only one who accesses it via LAN and thus fixed IP. But I'm surprised that the IP would affect the waypoint storage in any way.
  8. Even without a console - so long as you are op, you can log onto your server with the Minecraft Tekkit client and just type the /stop command in chat. By the way: if you do use the console, the slash needs to be left out. So "stop" on the console, "/stop" in ingame chat as op. You can op yourself by writing your name into the ops.txt file before starting the server.
  9. Hey all. I run a small Tekkit server for friends, with no changes from the standard pack aside from a few mods disabled (notably EE and compactsolars) and a single Bukkit plugin which does nothing other than preventing Endermen from picking up blocks. The server runs on a different computer than my client. We're having a curious thing going on with minimap waypoints, and I was wondering if anyone had a similar experience. What happens is this: some players, but not all of them, lose their waypoints when they log in for the first time on a given day, but not on subsequent logins afterwards. To be more precise, out of four players, one has this problem every day, one had it once so far but not on other days, one hasn't given me feedback, and I personally have never experienced this issue. I've searched around on the forum, and found multiple threads detailing how waypoints are lost when Tekkit updates. But here's the thing: there was no updating involved. We only started playing last weekend and there have been no new builds in that time. The only difference between me and the others that I can come up with is that I am an op (what with needing to administrate the thing) and the others are not. But waypoints should be something that's local to each Tekkit install, and should not have anything to do with server-side settings, so I am confused. Has any of you ever noticed such a thing?
