  1. I met a traveller from an antique land Who said: "Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand, Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed. And on the pedestal these words appear: `It was a great idea until modders ruined it.' Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare, The lone and level sands stretch far away".
  2. It also randomly breaks all kinds of stuff- I've stopped using it for the most part.
  3. Technic doesn't index mods, it index modpacks.
  4. And if someone else has a website they can steal the content from your website and have it be listed on google. That is what you are claiming has occurred here, so I am telling you: google doesn't care.
  5. Sorry if I was unclear. I mean someone has taken your game, album, movie, etc. and hosted it on their website. Their result may be the first thing that comes up when you google your movie, but google won't do anything about it. They have no responsibility to, they're not doing anything wrong, and they don't care. The correct action is to talk to the person's webhost, to the person themselves, to the government, to your lawyer. The correct action is not to talk to google, because they will do nothing. Now is a mod legally similar to a movie, a game, etc.? I'm very strident about getting permissions for my modpack, but I don't think it is. That doesn't matter, though- even if it were a movie, google would do absolute zip about it. I'm not sure how you can expect Technic to do more than Google.
  6. If someone puts your content illegally on their website, you cannot, in fact, petition google to remove their site from search.
  7. From the guy who posted the modpack, absolutely. EDIT: I'm just being a jerk, I don't know.
  8. I'm not sure what you mean by a config file- all the stuff I changed are config options in the mods I included, so you can download it, change it, make a new pack out of it, whatever you want!
  9. I've made a modpack in the Technic Platform, and wanted to share it with you guys. Olloth said it was A-OK to post it here in the Modders Metropolis. My modpack is called Big Dig, and it's a mod with a ton of ores in the ground for you to dig! Technic Platform page: http://beta.technicpack.net/modpack/details/big-dig-pack.57 What is Big Dig? It's a tight pack of mods made for people who don't like much grinding. The tag line is, "It's not cheating... but it's close!" and that's the philosophy I went in with. The overworld doesn't have quite the crazy ore spawn rates of a dense ore Mystcraft Age... but they're pretty off the scales. I hope you try it out. If you like the pack, please upvote it! If you like the mods, donate to the modders! Mod List:
  10. Hello! I have a mod pack I'm putting together and wanted to add the Obsidiplates mod, but saw that it was made for FTB. Talking in the Technic channel, someone pointed out that it'd be easier to make my own Obsidian Plate mod than try to get permissions, and they were right. Someone posted half of the mod to show how easy it was and I finished and made the other half just now, but I can't remember who did it so I stole all the credit. Post here if it was you and I guess I'll put your name on it! For those who don't know, this mod adds a new pressure plate recipe made out of obsidian that can only be triggered by players. It's not a big deal, but nice to have around. If you are making a modpack and want to use this mod, just use it, you don't have to ask me at all, that's the whole reason this mod exists. It'd be cool if you linked to this page and put down Slinky as the creator (and the other person if they ever turn up). Okay, here's the download (Mod version 1.1, for MC 1.51): http://www.mediafire.com/?d3fz0ewo4fnfy59
  11. Because it's a public discussion forum, dummy. Also: I may not know anything that's not public knowledge, but you're asking questions about forestry that literally have public knowledge answers. What year was that, exactly?
  12. You know that this forum has a private messaging system if you want to have a private chat, right? And there's like, an IRC...
  13. What the fuck is this? Substantiate your claims or fly away.
  14. Nobody cares, and you're full of shit.
  15. Not sure, but I'm pretty sure there's a cap based on the number of chunks loaded, and 10 is enough to hit that cap.
  16. There's a setting called like, visibility or chunk distance or something like that. It's set to 9 or 10 by default, and sometimes people try to reduce it to deal with lag, but if you do that, mobs won't spawn properly.
  17. Hey look it's a 2x2 trap door that's 1.5 compatible
  18. The issue I have with this whole thing, though, using IC2 as a weapon against specific modpack authors is summed up in this whole exchange we've had. You developed this feature to go after modpacks except one of the two you named, your reasoning was: - Didn't ask for permission, even though IC2 doesn't need permission - Had some problem with Pahimar, claimed that Pahimar couldn't come to an agreement with them despite the fact that I can't seem to find any evidence that their mod includes EE. - Claimed that they claimed a connection to Direwolf they didn't have, but apparently talking to them about it got them to pull that. - Claimed that talking to them about their link usage/author naming couldn't work, hasn't in the past, even though Albalka was able to talk to them about that stuff and apparently reach an agreement. Frankly, I've always gotten the impression from you that you just don't like modpacks. I'm glad that technic has been granted diplomatic immunity from your wrath, but I can't really be okay with you going after other modpacks with the same irrational fervor. EDIT: He's saying the similarity is that both those guys did the things they set out to do.
  19. I read it more as a sort of a jokish thing, I didn't take it as "It's better than destroying your world WHICH I HAVE A RIGHT TO DO" more like, wry humor.
  20. Hi, Richard, I just visited the DNSPack IRC channel and everyone in there was under the impression that things had been worked out with Albalka a few days ago. Is that not the case?
  21. And we come back to this, which I kind of already figured was the point. IC2 doesn't need permission to be distributed. IC2 doesn't need permission to be distributed. IC2 doesn't need permission to be distributed.
  22. Well, if they don't anymore then something was done. The site doesn't represent the mods as the owner's, each mod is listed and linked to. The site seemed legit to me when I visited it, it just wasn't following the specific guidelines Albalka laid out. That said, if ya'll have talked to the guy about the two specific issues you have (linking to the IC2 wiki instead of the main page, not listing authors in the mod list), then yeah, go for it. Sorry if it seemed like I was in a tirade- I do appreciate that this isn't sneaky shit or anything awful. I just don't really like mods being used against modpack creators at all, especially when the creator does seem like they're mostly doing right. No idea about the other one, but DNSPack was linking to websites/threads for each mod, and made a point of stating that the pack author's role was in assembling different mods into a pack. The names/handles of the mod authors/teams were not listed on the site, though. It's not good enough, but it's not like the dude is trying to make people think he made the mods either.
