joe5
hi, I was wondering if eyes of ender work in tekkit as i followed one to the supposed location of a strong hold and found nothing. if not, how do you normally go about locating strongholds in your worlds? DanielJin
Eyes of ender has always been the only way to locate strongholds, just make sure to dig straght down where it dropped, otherwise keep going to that direction.
joe5
unfortunately, the eye of ender is leading me to an area that is most defiantly devoid of strongholds. if I move far enough away would it bring me to a new one?
charcharmunro
How are you so sure there's no strongholds? Strongholds rarely, if ever, spawn aboveground, so you need to dig around where the Eye of Ender leads you.
joe5
given as I am a fan of the mining laser set to scatter approach to digging I am reasonably confident. What is its margin of error?
charcharmunro
Well, the Eye of Ender will only point directly to an End Portal when you're right above it. It will otherwise point in the direction you should go. When it starts going down to the ground, then you dig downwards.
joe5
i am currently standing at the bottom of a mining laser cleared pit. when i throw an eye of ender. it goes strait up and then falls strait down. does the fact that i am near a ravine matter? DanielJin
If it still goes up a bit, keep going in that direction until it drops staight down.
charcharmunro
Also, use the Eye above ground.
joe5
regardless of where I use the eye it goes to the same point in the air and then drops. is it possible it has simply does not exist. also, are ender frames nuke proof?
charcharmunro
You're supposed to follow the direction the Eye goes to. Keep doing that until it goes to an opposite direction or straight down, then try to pinpoint the End Portal with that.
joe5
That is what i did. I have found the point the eye goes to. unforunatly, their is nothing there.
Xylord
regardless of where I use the eye it goes to the same point in the air and then drops. is it possible it has simply does not exist. also, are ender frames nuke proof? Yes, they are. They're like bedrock. Other than that, well, I don't know, everything that had to be said has been. Only start digging when it goes straight down, the eye. joe5
used the nuke and it looks like it was over writen by a mineshaft
charcharmunro
Ooh. Sucks. Go speeding off in another direction until the Eye goes to a different direction. Or just use NEI to cheat in some frames and fix it up.
Torezu
Rule of thumb: there are always 3 strongholds spawned, at 120° angles from either 0,0 or the spawn point, I can't remember (probably 0,0). Move around 0,0 far enough from the stronghold you found, and start using Eyes again.
