DXWarlock
Perhaps I missed it if its i the configs, but is there a way to set the 'ratio' of nether ores? it seems way to overpopulated (at least for the balance we are going for) on our server. I've upped the explosion chance, and size to discourage mass nether mining, hoping to slow it down. As with a eff 4 pickaxe and mining in nether CHEWS through netherrack, exposing and gathering ores MUCH faster in the world. Id like to keep the mod, as it as a reason to goto the nether for my players. But also with the rate you can gather ores in the nether, don't want it to negate the usefulness of mining in the normal world.
atheneftw
if everyone on your server is rich they are probably duping, nether mining is balanced and not op at all.
DXWarlock
Never said it was about them being rich. And its not a duping issue, Its also my experience personally with the nether ores. Doing a test mining in nether for 3 hours a day, for 4 days to get an average, vs world. After macerating and smelting I had 3x the ore from nether than world. And its not a matter of its being 'op' for everyone, its a personal view that applies to my server only and the gameplay/theme we have going on, and may differ from server to server. Why I asked if its adjustable. I was merely asking if anyone knew where or if it was, not if someone has input to on the wealth of the players on my server, and possible exploits I should check. But I appreciate your effort to dismiss it by avoiding the question at hand, and reply with a "your admining it wrong, it must be dupes your not catching" as a reply. atheneftw
you dont get it, nether mining is not op, end.
DXWarlock
No, I was asking if its adjustable to the flavor preference of the server, not on if someone that doesnt play on my server enjoys it with its current settings... Let me rephrase the questions so that you can understand it more clearly: With Nether Ores being a mining alternative to the main world, is the ratio at which they spawn able to be tweaked to fit the preferences of the players on said server, be it adding MORE or LESS ores, in a config setting... theprolo
Nether Ores produce more when Macerated - usually around twice as much as usual. That's your problem.
DXWarlock
yes, one of the reasons why Im trying to reduce the count gotten while on a mining run. I don't want to take the satisfaction of getting more ore per block away from the players, as they risked the nether to get it. And disabling macerators for that ore would do that. as then they would get only 1 per block. Just getting less blocks per trip is what i'm after :)
gavjenks
Sorry for the fact that all the douchebags on the forum apparently decided to answer specifically this thread, DX. The answer to your perfectly reasonable question is no. A quick look at the netherores config shows me that you can change the explosion chance and power and some other things, but not the ratio. DXWarlock
Yes, sadly it seems so. I've dug all around in every cfg I can find even remotely related to it, and seems it coded for the ratio's..oh well Seems I'll have to use the explosion chance as an equalizer, just upping the "risk vs reward" since I cant change the reward...might as well up the risk.
