So I went into my config file and turned on energy storage blocks emitting a redstone current when full.

I placed RP wire on it, leading to some lamps and the reactor so it would give me a visual notification that I have ran out of storage and turn off the reactor. Just it seems the RP wire isn't getting the signal when my MFSU is full. I even wrapped the open 4 faces on the MFSU with RP wire and it didn't pick up.

What am I doing wrong?

Try putting a piece of redstone dust by the storage units and linking the wire to that. Red alloy wire doesn't always play nicely with Industrialcraft machines.

Doesn't work. Tried dust on floor next to the storage, dust on block next to storage, and then both of those with wire on top of storage as well.

Is this an issue with the emit redstone feature for IC2 v1.64?

Did you set the machine itself to output redstone current? There's an option on the GUI of the storage units, looks like a pile of redstone dust.

I don't have that GUI. That wasn't implemented until v1.70, which my Tekkit has but not Technic.

The change log states that it's in the config for now till V1.70. Check your config files? If not, then try another way to shutdown the reactor. Maybe if it's a Mark II or higher, you can attach a timer to a toggle latch, so the reactor will stop every now and then.

I solved this a while ago by just switching to the dev build. That redstone button is amazing! Plays very nicely with RP2.

The dev build does indeed have that interface, and (for me) never crashes. You can upgrade and keep your world fine as long as you take everything out of your alchemy bags before doing it, if I recall correctly.

If you want to, that is.
