0 Jorcer
Read the stickys next time. Uninstall AVG and the launcher, then reinstall the launcher. You can reinstall AVG after if you really want but I wouldn't recommend it (get avast! or MSE, they are free and usually better than AVG)

0 Amstmill
Uninstalled the launcher and AVG, downloaded avast! and the launcher again. Same problem. I start it and the patch downloader comes up and then it goes away again, and nothing happens.
0 Jorcer
I don't think you put the right launcher version... Can you check that again and see? (It should be 1. something)
0 Ashzification
Tell avast to allow technic.
0 Amstmill
The file says version 1.0.1.0 but I just downloaded whatever launcher that is on the frontpage download button. I assume this is the latest one. Also, how do I allow programs in avast!? I tried looking around and I didn't find anything that said something regarding allowing certain programs. 0 tepidpond
Poke around the Real-Time shields section, particularly behavior shield. There should be (perhaps hidden behind an Expert settings link) some way to allow particular programs.
0 MephistosChan
If you reinstall, don't forget to back up and TOTALLY wipe your previous folder.
0 EzioA
Or, use Ubuntu! No anti-virus needed and simplified installation of mods! :D

0 tepidpond
I doubt anyone would take the time to code a Unix-based virus T_T The very first virus to ever exist was a Unix virus.
0 EzioA
Are there even any ubuntu anti-viruses? >.> Wow, look how the thread has derailed. From a launcher bug to Unix viruses. XD
0 Ashzification
Since you're so good at coding yourself, why don't you write one? Or just modify a windows program.
0 tepidpond
Are there even any ubuntu anti-viruses? >.> Yes. There are several. Because Unix-types are used as webservers so often they must have virus scanning so that they are less likely to infect the hordes of relatively more frail Windows computers. I know of ClamAV, Avira, AVG, Panda, F-PROT, and BitDefender that can all provide virus protection on Ubuntu.
