Launcher wont open

Description of Problem:

I haven't bought mine craft so that may be the issue but i have got the technic launcher with the required java (I think) and i start the launcher yet it wont open, not even show it is loading, nothing. please reply i need this if i am getting the game on friday and dont want to have to wait for the launcher to work.

Minecraft is the game. Technic/Tekkit are modifications of the game. If you don't have a game, you can't play the mods.
