Java 7 Crashes The Launcher

Question

Posted

Launcher Version: 1.0.2.0

Operating System: OSX Mountain Lion 64bit

Java Version: Java 7 Update 9

Antivirus Program: None

Description of Problem:

I run on the latest version of the Mac operation system. This is where the problems started, this morning I fired up the computer and I was notified of an update. This ended up being an update for Java, which I installed. I was running version 6 of Java before and I could get into Minecraft but now, it's updated me to Java version 7 update 9 and every time I fire up Tekkit, it gets to the sign in page, and once I click login, the Tekkit launcher quits, and it just will not allow me to enter into the game.

Within the last month I had issues with Java 7 and I was simply able to un-tick the a Java 7 tick box and it would revert back to Java 6, but I couldn't find this option anymore, so I decided to ring Apple, and they told me if I want to revert back to version 6 I'd have to re-install the whole operation system :-/

I'm just wondering if anyones experienced this same issue and managed to find a fix/way around it. I'd really appreciate it.

Error Messages:

None, once I click the login button it just quits the launcher window.

Hello??

MOUNTAIN LION DONTT HAVE JAVA PREFERENCES

You know, caps lock really isn't necessary.

As you can see, many people are trying to figure out a solution for this problem. You can either help try to find a solution, or be patient and kind to those who are.

Blackrock414, I'd also like to point out that this is not the first report you have threadjacked regarding this issue. You have yet to make your own bug report. So, re-read my message above.

Thanks. You just saved me loads of work.

It seems odd that your Time Machine would be full, and preventing newer backups. Older backups are supposed to be deleted to make room for newer ones.

Heck, I didn't have to go that far back to get a copy of it, as the patch only came out a few days ago.

It's full because we have 5 or 6 computers backing up to it. Also, I had to delete my sparsebundle to prevent glitchyness, and it never managed to do a preliminary backup.

Help I Cant Make Java 6 Default :(

There's something else going on that I can't figure out. Your best bet is to do something like the thread that I posted about earlier, where you're setting the java_home variable and then executing the jar lanucher

Guys, I was having this problem too, searched for hours and came upon this thread. Thanks to saintnicster, I was able to revert back to Java 6 without having to reinstall my OS (which by the way is 10.7.5, so the download does work with older versions).

Here's how I did it:

1. Download the Java Preferences zip that saintnicster so graciously provided.

2. Open Java Preferences

3. Right click on Java 7 (should open new finder window with one item in it called "1.7.0 jdk")

4. Move 1.7.0 jdk to trash

5. Open Technic Launcher, Sign in and have fun! :)

Hope this helps anyone still having trouble!

That makes sense. Anyway, there is a LWGJL that is buggy, but works with J7.
