Properly making a server for a custom Modpack?

Hello, I am an owner of a custom Modpack. I was succesfully able to develop and upload my modpack, then download it to my computer. Now I face a problem preventing me, and my awaiting friends to join my server created specifically for these custom mods. When I attempted to use the official Minecraft server files to run the server, the game kept crashing whenever I added just one or two of the many mods for my modpack. I tried all different forges, and tutorials but can't get far without problems. My modpack runs perfectly on singleplayer, as well as the many others who have my copy. I even removed mods that seemed to be causing the crash, but never resolved the issue. Though it's a different story when I'm on LAN multiplayer. Anyone can join if they are connected to the same router. I am pleading anyone to please give me the best ways to start a custom server, as my mods seem to not be multiplayer friendly. I am running minecraft 1.5.2 for this modpack. Thank you!
