The_DarthMoogle Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 A lot of threads seem to be showing up wherefore server owners are looking for staff. A subforum could be profusely useful if executed properly. My idea - Have a proper format for staffing threads. Information like Job positions open Timezone preferences Server size/type (hamachi or no) General information (roughly the same stuff you'd get from a server thread) Then comes what the owners want from their staff. e.g. Previous experience Age/IGN Wouldn't be anywhere close to a challenge to moderate, and would be of benefit to everyone.

Good idea but won't it give greifers an easy seat of power?
The_DarthMoogle Posted November 18, 2012 Author Posted November 18, 2012 Good idea but won't it give greifers an easy seat of power? There will always be such a risk. But that doesn't stop there being lots of staff recruitment threads. I'm just looking for a neat and tidy place for these kinds of threads to go and flourish, with some rules to go alongside them.

I guess that if they just ban them if they start greifing and we could ban them on the forum.

Xylord Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 As long as they don't come up on the "What's new" page, I think that's a good idea.
freakachu Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 I think it's generally a bad idea to recruit strangers for administrative positions or jobs that need a large amount of trust. want ads work pretty well in real life because there's some consequences for being a dick to your employer (or in general). it's just not the case online. if you don't know someone really well, putting them in a position of power will only end in tears. basically, if you're posting want ads on the internet for server staff, you're doing it wrong. if you need staff that means you have a lot more people than you can handle. recruit one of them, they're invested in not being a dick to everyone already.
HDScorpio Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 I really like this idea, as I'm quite active in the Looking For section of minecraftforums. Being someone that enjoys to be an important part in tekkit servers, this would be perfect for me to find a nice server to settle in to. If I could rep this post, I would.
ErusPrime Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 For things like creating mods or making texture packs compatible it could be pretty useful though. I'm not sure how much use there would be but might make it easier to sort for those looking for that kind of info.
