Technic Launcher crashes upon installing

I have downloaded technic launcher onto my Latitude D620 which is currently running the Ubuntu 16.10 Yakkity Yak OS, I cannot even open Technic.jar without having my whole desktop crash and sending me back to the login screen i'm currently using JRE 8u111, i've deleted, reinstalled, ive unzipped via tar.gz ive used the terminal yet everytime I try to open Technic launcher it just crashes right then and there, sad part is technic runs on my tower which is older and is a Dell Inspiron 530 any help is greatly appreciated (running on LXDE)

normally I have no issues with Technic launcher anywhere else except my latitude here

then nothing this is from the Technic launcher log files

technic launcher is the only program to do this, i have ATLauncher (works fine) and the regular Minecraft Launcher which works fine
