Ok, got all mods that need to be in the server, in the server. I then copied across the config files from the custom1 folder as the few I checked were the same.

Started server with no errors (as far as I could see) and then attempted to join with the working client. I grabbed this result from the forge client-side log.

About to sit and trawl through this. But I've checked both config files thoroughly and they're exactly the same. Any ideas why I'll be getting mismatches? And can you explain what on earth the penultimate line means. As I read it, it tells me that it's not assigned, even though further up the log, railcraft assigns those IDs.

I have no idea what's wrong there. You could try getting a fresh RedPower.cfg and manually replacing the ID's with the right ones. I think all the ID Settings are the same for both server and client, but the rest of the config might differ. So just copy only the section containing the ID's.

Darn. You said to get a fresh redpower though it looks to me more like railcraft. Was that a typo or have I missed something about redpower in there?

EDIT: AHA! I think I managed to fail to copy railcraft for the server across!

EDIT 2: Exactly what it was. All done now, not fully tested, but we'll have a day of play sometime soon and test as much as we can.

Thanks for the help, Teraku. It's all sorted now. If I had a better internet connection, I'd open up an open server! Haha! But, I'm afraid it's private until I can get fibre optic where I live. Which is at least the end of this year.

i dont see how there can be a legal problem if its a mod i dont think technic have copyrighted it or anything have they? i mean its not like i intend to sell it to people its just for me and a few friends on a private server

You can't distribute Minecraft or small parts of it, but really, who cares? Even Forge does it, albeit with a few additions allowing mods to hook into Minecraft.

Between friends who all have minecraft, it shouldn't be a problem.

And why are you distributing minecraft.jar anyway? When using custom zips, you don't need to include anything in the bin folder apart from modpack.jar and perhaps WorldEdit.jar if it contains SPC. Both Vanilla and the blank slate modpacks (Which are essentially duplicates of vanilla) download only an empty modpack.jar and minecraft.

Because it's so much easier. They way it is, you copy it to your techniclauncher folder and just run it. You'd have to dl the files etc then run it and probably get issues as technic updating stops the pack workin. Haha

I haven't a clue how to set up the custom zip thing. If I did, I might try it out.

Server-wise, I think the only way to do that is to actually give you the server folder as it's all modded. Though, I'm going to try and figure out the bugs sometime today as they're doing my head in! Haha. I'll update everything too.
