Launcher/pack Version: Tekkit 2.1.1

Operating System: CentOS 6 (64 bit)

Version of Java: Java 64 bit (Don't know exactly. Hosted on a dedicated server)

Description of Problem:

I am experiencing 100% CPU usage with just 30 players on the server even though the server has an Intel Core i5 (Quad Core at 2.67 GHz) processor. The server is only used for this single server. The server also has 10 GB of RAM allocated and the map is only 4000x4000 blocks large.

Error Messages: N/A

Link to pastebin of log: N/A

On a vanilla server that would be extreme but on a server running with all the mods and the various machines that have to running all at the same time I would say that is about right .

You will most likely need to halve your population or something close to it or get a more "beefy" system to run the server.

The 2 common reasons for high CPU-load is ComputerCraft and/or mobs. If its an issue u should try toggle those on/off (toggling CC off will break placed items in regards of the mod).

Your CPU is definitely one of your main bottlenecks. You will need to implement some rules to limit machine usage for your players. Tekkit is incredibly CPU intensive.

The above recommendations also hold true.

Did you try to set it to peacefull, to remove all mobs? U might need to do /butcher -a after doing it, to delete current mobs. Also chunkgenertion will up the CPUload alot, a border for a map is highly recommended. Im not 100% shure how much a map would take up, but we got a 15000x15000 border, and our map is 2 gig large. Check how large ur worldfolder is, that should atleast help some to see if u should have ungenerated chunks.

I suppose you could try and make sure you don't have anything wacky like an IC2 power loop going on as well. though that would be very hard to find if you had that many people playing

Do you allow chunk loaders? You may also have complex machinery running even with 4 players online. Any fillers perhaps? Extreme item spills cause major lag.

Setting the server to peaceful isn't really an option as mobs are pretty fun, especially when you see the death announcements of players getting blown up by creepers.

We still get like 19 TPS.

I know, but its to test if that makes less CPU load.

CraftBukkit version Tekkit provides got some issues with mobs, thats why i asked that Q. Test it (you dont need to stick to peacefull) and if it actually solves issues, well, get a moblimiter (you wont need 1k mobs for a 10ish player server tbh, especially not if it reduce performance.
