Why does my launcher look so different?

Whenever I go on youtube to look up tutorials on how to set up a server, their technic launcher looks like this:

But mine looks like this:

I can't access the options in the same way. How do I get the options that say the version and stuff?

They're just using the old launcher. You have the new (and far superior) launcher. You can access the options by clicking that little gear underneath the modpack's logo on the left.

Since Technic isn't in the new launcher, I'm going to assume you mean the version of the Technic Launcher.

Click on the gear icon in the top right and an options window will pop up. Above the options concerning whether to use stable or beta launcher builds it will state the launcher build you are currently using.

Well my friend has a mac and she can't play tekkit. I have tekkit, but she just plays on the old technic launcher and plays technic. It says that some modpacks arent installed. What do I do?

Your issue seems to be evolving. This is going to turn into a lot of people wildly guessing at your issue pretty fast. You need to provide more information. A lot more. I have no idea what that error means. Here is my wild guess. She is trying to connect to a sever that you are playing on (is this right?) and it is saying that she is missing certain mods. (not modpacks?) In which case she is trying to connect with the wrong pack, or wrong version of the pack, or both. She needs to update to the new launcher, and select the pack you have selected. She can get the new launcher at www.technicpack.net. The old launcher is no longer supported. If she IS using the new launcher, then its just a matter of making sure you both have the same pack selected.
