Question

I've searched the forums and cant find an answer. all i need to know is how to change the location of where the .techniclauncher is. point being its going onto my 32gb ssd and i need it 2 go to my 2tb secondary. because when i have all the packs loaded into my hard drive it cant handle that.(not enough space) so i have to delete one pack to play another. this issue is really bothersome and i appreciate any help anyone can offer. i want to pretty much set it up to go to [D:\Technic]

that still dousn't cut it for me, in the sense that i don't want to mess about with the installer. just give me the damn option to select the location :(. or make it so i can put the game folder into profile manager to keep it organized. i cant and the main reason seems to be the missing version file.

oh I'm sorry, were you the OP? I wasn't trying to help you specifically, I was helping the OP. that solved his problem, which wasn't your problem and thus probably doesn't work for your new, completely different problem.

minecraft modding isn't user friendly, I'm sorry. it's a damn miracle they have the launcher to the point that it's at in terms of automating all the stuff behind the scenes so you don't have to.

well according a a java coder friend of mine its just a case of editing one line. cause it surely has one that tells it where to put the .technicpack folder. so if i would know where in the launcher.jar that line was we could change it ourselves. bud thats probably causing trouble with copyright and stuff

edit: maybe make a new topic to not clutter up this one? idk where to put it tho

ask yourself, "do I know java well enough and have the time to waste to fork the launcher's git repository in order to keep changing the install directory just for me on every version that comes out?" if the answer is "no" then the junction is one step, never needs to be updated, and doesn't require java knowledge.

the junction doesn't mess with the installer, it just redirects it wherever you want it. it's fast and easy. also, get better friends.
