David_Wolfe Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Anybody else ever accidentaly split up the contents of a forge over multiple basins just to get the metal to float around in there? Is there a way to manually scoop out the liquid metal and put it back into different basins or in the main forge? I already tried using a bucket.
Kalthas Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 not that i'm aware of. You can melt more metal and add it to each one. When the basins fill up they will solidify like normal. You can also break the basins but that'll waste metal.
David_Wolfe Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 Hmm, well, damn. Strange how they added the ability to scoop liquid metal with buckets then...

Is there a way to manually scoop out the liquid metal and put it back into different basins or in the main forge? I already tried using a bucket. You've got a couple options; both need a Seared Faucet. 1. Put a Seared Faucet on the basin. 2. Then either place a Casting Table or Seared Tank below the basin. You can then either make tool parts, ingots, etc, or use a bucket to scoop the metal from the tank. If you choose to use the bucket you can drain the liquid back into the smelter by placing a Seared Glass or Seared Window above the Smelter, placing a Smeltery Drain as part of the Smelter with the drain facing upwards, and put a Seared Faucet on the Glass/Window pouring into the drain. (I was curious so tried using a Tank instead of Glass/Window and it wouldn't pour into the drain). Check out this link for pictures, I just searched "drain" in the Tinkers Construct thread...
David_Wolfe Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 Jolly good show. On my test world I made a couple of tests and came to this thingermejigg here Works PERFECTLY as described For anyone that can't read 'this link' in the previous post, here's the image provided.
Kalthas Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 ha ha ha i was gonna suggest you try that but I thought, "nooo, that's won't work" glad to know now that it does!
Dash16 Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 WAIT WAIT WAIT you can put faucets on Basins? /me furiously updates the wiki
David_Wolfe Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 Only if you shift click, as I just figured out, you can pretty much place it on anything Also, you can pour molten metals into seared glass/windows with a bucket that you can fill on a casting table, just like the buildcraft liquid tanks.
Dash16 Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Seared Glass/Seared Window functions like a Buildcraft Tank for Molten Ore, Glass and Stone? Odd. I'd expect the Seared Tank to do that.
David_Wolfe Posted August 2, 2013 Author Posted August 2, 2013 And as shown in the second screenshot, you can tap that to a seared valve-thingamajigger and then empty it into a drain with an upwards opening to fill it in there. But I suppose you saw that already.
Dash16 Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 So, Faucet above a drain pointing up which is connected to the Smeltery, and you can put Molten Ore back into the Smeltery? Why doesn't mDiyo have an official wiki? TConstruct is maddeningly undocumented.
koro Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 I don't know if it's been mentioned, but you can also put faucets on multiple sides of a drain as well, so one drain can serve multiple tables/basins.

They just lack a certain amount of detail... but I maybe he wants people to figure it out for themselves?
zekrom3000 Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I try to put some liquid gold into a basin but nothing comes out
