If we are talking CPU and memory sticks I don't think it matters but I'm not A+ certified and have not taken classes on that in a while. I will double check with Google when I can. Man I have lost my touch.

Who makes RAM shouldn't affect how it functions with a certain processor. Of course, you want to make sure your motherboard has the correct slot for your new processor (as processors, unlike RAM, don't tend to be interchangable)

Check the ram speed compatibility of your new motherboard. I assume you're getting a brand spanking new mobo+CPU combo so you'll have to make sure your old memory is supported.

With RAM, it all comes down to DDR1/2/3 + speed.

Also, as simple statedguy, motherboards are not compatible between brands. And frankly you're really lucky if it's compatible between even minor processor upgrades within a single brand.

I really hope you have close expert help on this, because if you have no clue what you're doing it can easily cost you a burned set. At around $200 for a decent combo, that's really freakin expensive.
