Turgle Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Ok so I have only just discovered the beauty of the Giant Redwood and Lumber Axe Auto Smelt with Luck combination. Pretty much, grow one of these Giant Redwood Trees: Secondly, hollow it out with a Lumber Axe that has Auto-Smelt and Luck (I only had enough Luck for Fortune 2, so you can do better than this). The result? Here: Quote
dlepi24 Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I've done this at one of the huge tree biomes (I think it's like bushes or sacred saplings or something like that) and I hit it once at the bottom and then entire tree came down along with like 130 levels of xp. The amount of lag was ridiculous for about 15 seconds lol. Quote

dlepi24 Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 When it auto smelts the logs into charcoal its the same as doing it in a furnace. So when it smelts 4000+ logs it drops a good bit of xp. Quote
Turgle Posted March 21, 2014 Author Posted March 21, 2014 I used to have trouble with fuel, but now I can save my coal and run off charcoal for a very long time. Quote
Enderman1021 Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Did this and it crashed my game due to lag XD I came back though, and I got everything, I can fuel my steam dynamos forever Turgle 1 Quote
Eotf Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Is there a way to cut the redwood down in one go? when I try with my lumber axe it just breaks the normal amount of blocks Quote
dlepi24 Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 It seems to be off and on for me. I believe that sometimes when it doesn't happen, I've just cut all the wood so it's not touching the ground and then take another swing at it and I've brought the whole thing down. Also, in the sacred saplings (i believe) biome with the huge trees, I've brought it all down in one hit. So, i don't understand the exact process of the lumber axe. Quote
Eotf Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 no matter how it just won't come down in 1 big go even if I dig some more and try again Quote
Turgle Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 Theres a point with these Redwood right at the bottom of the massive leaves layer, just try chopping there and watch it come down from above. So much xp!! Quote
Bongchoy Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 I still have yet to find one of these trees in my world... Quote
Turgle Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 They seem to appear only in Plains biomes from what I've seen, and even then they generate 1 or 2 at most. Quote
Turgle Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 It says you need to place them in a 7x7 (49 saplings) but I soon worked out that was false information. At lease there's a lot of leaves to get saplings from. Quote
Loader Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Jungle saplings can work to a degree in the meanwhile, they grow much faster but give much less wood and you need to put them in a 2x2 arrangement to get the big trees. Quote
