The tracker is where you post issues, such as these. The link to the tracker and its guidelines is available in my signature below. The tracker is where you will get help for modpack related issues like world loss, items not working, etc. Also, may i suggest reading '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>> as it will give a better idea of the tracker.

You might have run into the a problem I have had 3 times or so, you can fix your file If you have a backup of the world.

What happend to me was that I crashed and when I went I open minecraft again the word was gone, I got scared. I looked in to the saves folder and noticed that level.dat was missing! luckely I had a backup, so I copied over the level.dat from my backup and pasted it in to the world. It worked and the world was exactely how it was before I crashed; though my items were reset back to where they where in the backup.

Now to get back the items you previusly had, you'll need to do something a bit trickier; you gotta click in the players folder and find the file called "USERNAME.dat", all your items you had are stored in it so you gotta open the level.dat and the USERNAME.dat in a NBT editor then copy the invertory compond from USERNAME.dat and replace the one in level.dat.

......And it's fixed, every thing should be normal exactly how it used to.

                                 I suck at instructions

Why did i post this? well hopefully it will help anyone with the same problem.

It's really important to backup your worlds often if you're playing modpacks. I sugjest getting a 1-2 terrabye disk to have backups in so you can restore if something goes wrong.

I really don't understand though why a crash would delete level.dat, it makes no sence at all for me.

File gets written to incorrectly during a crash because it couldnt save the file properly due to the crash, minecraft attempts to read it after it "saves", cant figure it out, assumes its not necessary or corrupted and attempting to load it further would be problematic thus it deletes it, is one possibility.
