Hey im having a problem and maybe you guys can help me figure it out.
So ive been trying to make a 1.7.2 pack using the Technic Launcher. Im doing the exact same thing i did to make the couple of 1.6 packs but this time it keeps giving me an error saying

"Error downloading file for following pack:
Failed to download
please consult the mod pack author"

So i thought it was a dropbox issue and ive tried a few other file hosting sites but still getting the same error. Do you know whats possible happening? I made another 1.6 pack and that one worked fine for some reason its only when i make 1.7 packs that i get this error. Is there something new when making 1.7 packs that i should know about?

it would be a good idea to post the technic log aswell

Error logs can be found when clicking the Cog-Wheel button on the top right corner on the launcher window.
If you can't open the launcher the logs can also be found inside %appdata% -> Roaming -> .technic -> logs

Paste the content on pastebin.com or paste.ubuntu.com and give the link.

Starting download of https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/40735087/17ModJar.rar, with 3 tries remaining
with 2 tries remaining
with 1 tries remaining

something is blocking the launcher. Firewall, antivirus, webproxy. Do you have all three? what are they?

Anyone have any other advice help? I keep trying to get this to work but still no luck and im going to need another similar pack to run for a server so id like to figure out how to get a 1.7 pack up and running for future references.

As far as the launcher downloading modpacks is concerned there is no difference between a 1.6 pack and a 1.7 pack. There has to be something going on with your local machine. Try turning off antivirus, try resetting the pack, try using a different host (copy.com works great). See what happens.

I have done all 3 ive turned off my firewall and antivirus, ive tried copy.com, and the pack never downloaded the first time. Still no luck and none of my friends can get it to download either. So im not sure what is wrong.

Whoops forgot to update the changes i have made since originally making the pack. Updated everything where i can run it on normal minecraft.
But still the same problem where im not able to download it though Technic. Ive tried agian by disabling my firewall and Antivirus and still no luck.

Im not sure why im only having problems with downloading 1.7 Modpacks when i can download 1.6 Modpack's i have made no problem.

Finally figured it out!!

You are making your modpack archive in RAR format and giving it a .zip extension. You MUST make the archive in ZIP format.
