Autocthon Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 So my brother and I are outfitting a vault. Basically a deep storage repository for our ME network. Now the kicker is that we want to coat the walls in the most expensive materials we can think of, purely because we can. Also because we like to make our friends feel inferior. So the question I have is what's the rarest material in Tekkit. Right now I'm defaulting to enderium blocks. They're expensive, require many types of material, and rely on rare crafting materials. But if there's something even rarer out there I'd like to know what it is.
Digdug83 Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Enhanced Galgadorian is pretty expensive. Although looking at the blocks available I have to say Enderium blocks look the best to me. I don't think anything's more 'expensive' in Tekkit than a block of EG though so if that's your goal then that's where I'd start.
Curunir Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 It's usually not just the "price" of an item, but also how it looks. You could expand your options by using item frames to put up non-block entities. For instance, I find the default textures of Buildcraft gold and diamond gears rather appealing. Be sure to integrate a few stacks of Resonant Energy Cells, so they look like vertical power gauges. Surround them with blocks of Enderium for additional swag. I hear you can create Dark Matter with Atomic Science's Particle Accelerators. Might be a nice exhibit, too. For showcases, consider using Obsidian Glass, Golden-Edged Glass or maybe Glowstone Glass. Assorted Metal blocks are also quite nice. Make sure you explore the possibilities of Forge Microblocks.
jakalth Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 (edited) Enderium blocks, blocks of Shiny metal(very rare unless you use cinnabar to increase the odds). Enhanced Galgadorian blocks are indeed expensive to make so those too. I also agree with Curunir, Things like banks of Resonant energy cells as part of the decoration add a bit more to the showing off part. And don't forget the sheer fun of having "Unstable blocks" adding too the decor. Oh! Also Ender Core blocks are quite expensive to make, and don't look half bad if mixed in with the other blocks. Curunir Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 (edited) While we're at it, Portable Tanks and Drums filled with liquids should be in any self-respecting treasury. A full Drum of Gelid Cryotheum or Blazing Pyrotheum spells wealth quite openly. With all the different liquids in Tekkit, you could probably make a rainbow line of them. HeatHunter Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 octuple compressed cobblestone is also quite expensive to make (43M cobble per block)

Autocthon Posted July 9, 2014 Author Posted July 9, 2014 While we're at it, Portable Tanks and Drums filled with liquids should be in any self-respecting treasury. A full Drum of Gelid Cryotheum or Blazing Pyrotheum spells wealth quite openly. With all the different liquids in Tekkit, you could probably make a rainbow line of them. I had a rainbow line of multiple high resonant tanks for a while. Then my brother decided he'd rather keep liquids in ME storage. At least I convinced him to build a deep storage vault. Maybe I have him keep giant pillars of resonant tanks in the vault.
Curunir Posted July 9, 2014 Posted July 9, 2014 High pillars of Portable Tanks filled with lava or Pyrotheum make for nice illumination, if nothing else. Alternatively, a lava lagoon under the (hardened?) glass floor might add some evil villain's lair flavour. ME networks are not really flashy... until you build a datacenter to contain them. How about a full-fledged NOC with racks of servers? A central hub of unshielded ME cable with its subtle lighting effect? There is so much pretty stuff to build.
Autocthon Posted July 9, 2014 Author Posted July 9, 2014 My vault is the opposite of flashy so I'll make another flashier version if for no reason short of "I have the resources to build this and my giant reactor to power it (while it remains empty)"
