YES IM NOT THAT STUPID

soz you know it was leading there, your expecting us to do all the work

check where you installed it, make sure its in place and installed properly

*again i start with cmd*

try launching it blank, does it still give you the same message?

"c:\program files\java\jre7\bin\java" -version

^ example code

haha so after reading this thread, the OP downloaded the java installer and tried to run the technic launcher using the installer instead of actually installing java and then using java. awesome.

OP, are you the type of person who would be given a test and instructed to "answer all the questions", only to turn in a blank test because no one told you to write the answers down as well?

I'm having the same issue. When I start the .exe file it flashes the updating launcher icon then disappears and nothing happens. I've tried both versions of the .jar (the download and the one in the file for the .exe file) using JRE 7 (which I found using open with and browse typing in JRE for the search and using the one in the bin folder of JRE that wasn't javaws or javaw just java) and always get a command prompt flashing for less than a second but after many retries I made out it saying some like Cannot find or load (file destination for the .jar). Javaw doesn't cause anything to happen and javaws just says Unable to Launch the Application.

Definitely not the java installation program is the java and as for computer specs:

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

McAfee Antivirus Plus (Had no issues but seeing it was in the list of AV that cause problems I will uninstall and come back to this)

JRE 7 64 bit

Minecraft 1.2.5 (of course)

And judging by how it's looking it does seem like new users are having the problems with this and old users aren't having and issues so. . . I can only say it might be nice to know where to find previous versions and try downloading one and updating it to the current version to see if that works.

you're gonna need some kind of error message if you want more than guesses. open up a command prompt (start-> run -> type "cmd" -> press enter) and type the following into it:

cd %appdata%\.techniclauncher

java -jar technic-launcher.jar

it should stay open so you can read the error.

I don't know wtf is going on but thank you. I did what you said with the cmd and it opened just fine through the cmd. The same things are still happening through the normal means but cmd opens it so I'm good. Thank you

wait quick question.. can i just copy and paste the thing you said to type into the cmd or do i type it? i know its a stupid question.. sorry

you're gonna have to type it in. manually. with your fingers. by pressing said fingers against the keys on your keyboard so that the letters on the keys that you press match the letters you see on your screen. make sure you do it in the same order too.

say mate, am i missing something... cause i never realized technic-launcher.jar is located in %appdata%\.techniclauncher

offtopic

im pretty sure you could write ( copy pasta in a single line )

cd %appdata%\.techniclauncher & java -jar technic-launcher.jar

as long as the paths are correct >_>

it is. it is always there once you've run the launcher at least once. well, unless you're not on windows.

as for doing it all in one line, you wouldn't happen to be a Perl fan, would you?

im low depth all around fan tbh, from binary to c...

got to mess around with perl in the process of trolling myself once or twice

and tbh i got two machines here, windows7 and ubuntu.

i've checked the %appdata%\.techiniclauncher on windows

it doesn't have technic-launcher.jar in there for some reason

( altho it hasn't been updated since tekkit for mc 1.1 came out )

if you've run the launcher on that machine, it should be in there.

Oh i think i understand what your saying

i've ran the "linux version" on windows

aka the .jar file not the .exe

( i guess technic requries a .jar version somewhere, and if its not on your desktop it would end up in there, amiright? )
