Yes I have also tried running the .jar and when I try to run that it says "unable to launch application"

Listen I'm sure most of the people on technic forums are Having the same porblem and seriously.. I'm getting impatient I've tried everything and gotten nothing.. All I'm asking for is a reason/solution.. Please help me.. I'm desperate

Actually, out of roughly 200,000 people, less than 50 have reported this issue.

It sounds like your firewall is blocking technic, otherwise the .Jar would have done the trick. try disengaging your firewall for 10 minutes or so while you get everything up and working.

I've Tried running the .jar

I've redownloaded it and all that stuff many times..

I've disabled my firewall

I've disabled my virus protector

I've reinstalled java multiple times

I've read the stickies for any solutions.. Come up short every time..

I don't remember any others right now but I'm sure they'll come to me in time..

Thank you for all your help that you've given so far its very appreciated.

the only truly "common" issue here is people who try technic for the first time and cant get it running

insert "your doing it wrong" meme here

how did you mix windows installer into this mate...

try going to the .jar, right clicking, open with, default program, [whatever JRE calls itself]

this is really simple.

if you cant fallow that, and still want assistance... describe the steps you took thus far. for our lol's

1. Download JRE

2. Download .jar from home screen

3. Go to the .jar file and click "open with"

4. Choose default program

5. Choose JRE

6. Run it

7. Little screen pops up "do you want to allow this program to make changes on your computer

8. Choose yes

9. An administrator pop up comes up and mysterious post describes what it says

well if your windows shell (if that's the proper term) launches windows installer instead the java

your environment variables are messed up.. or aren't there at all, not sure

but inorder to be sure, try this script...

"c:\program files\java\jre7\bin\java" -jar "c:\users\yourusername\desktop\technic-launcher-latest.jar

^ just an example, you should know how to modify those paths just leave the " in there ( cant use spaces in cmd )

save the script as a .bat and launch it

[ self explanatory really, but less loose ends ]

if it gives you the 'same' error- i'd suggest you get rid of java and reinstall it

It sounds like you downloaded the Java installer... and then set the launcher to load with the Java installer .exe instead of actually installing Java.
