launch.bat doesn't work on linux

I'm sure somebody else has had this problem but..

i'm trying to setup a tekkit server on my kubuntu linux computer.

After download and extracting the Tekkit.jar the launch.bat file just opens in Kate rather than luanching the server. how do i get around this

You tell Linux to launch the tekkit jar using java, just like the bat would do. If you don't know how to use Linux to launch programs, may I suggest switching to windows.

Batch files (*.bat) are for Windows and DOS only. Switch to either Windows or DOS.

Or OS/2 if you can find a copy.
