Modpack loads into Vanilla: All mods and Forge version tested outside of Technic Launcher

Hello!

My husband and I have been playing Pixelmon plus a hefty amount of tech-y mods together on a private server. We recently thought we'd like to invite a few friends to come join us and thought of how easy it would be if they could load all the mods via Technic instead of manually installing everything like we did.

We have been playing with these mods in this configuration for several weeks on Forge for 1.7.10 (Forge version #1217).

So I got the universal jar for Forge #1217 and renamed it to modpack.jar

I've put this into a new folder structure modpack/bin

Also within the modpack folder are 2 other folders, config and mods.

In config I copied all my config files from my installation of this modpack (as said earlier, we've already been playing this configuration for several weeks before deciding to compile everything into a Technic pack for friends to try).

In the mods folder I've copied all our mods.

So the main folder is modpack

the sub folders are:

bin - with the Forge binary renamed as modpack.jar

config - with all my config files

mods - with all my mod files

I've zipped my modpack folder and uploaded to Dropbox. Created the modpack in my Technic account, loaded it up (it loads up just fine) but Minecraft is loading as Vanilla, with no mods, no Forge, nothing.

It can't possibly be that I have the wrong Forge because we've been playing with this exact Forge for weeks. It can't possibly be mod incompatibiliies either. Can it? I want to believe I've done everything right, I've googled diligently, watched 2 YouTube videos of how to make the Technic packs and so much more. I've double, triple checked everything but just can't seem to figure out what it wrong.

Any help, a 2nd pair of eyes, some advice would be SO MUCH APPRECIATED! :-)

Thanks so much in advance to anyone who takes the time to look into this.

Your problem is that your zip contains ANOTHER folder inside of it. It's a common mistake, I did it with my first pack, a simple error of an extra folder. To help you out, the correct layout should be this:

(Insert Name Here.zip)

bin

mods

config (optional but recommended)

(anything else such as options.txt or servers.dat)

Your was this:

modpack.zip

PixelTechPackForTechnic

bin

mods

config (optional but recommended)

(anything else such as options.txt or servers.dat)

You sir or ma'am are my hero!

Heheheh of course I just knew it had to be something painfully silly or miniscule. I was beginning to want to pull my hair out, I had done so much searching for what I could possibly doing wrong. Reading over 20 threads with problems similar to mine and double checking I had done all those solutions suggested (mainly - not having forge in the bin folder as modpack.jar -- which I KNEW I did correctly)

Thank you so much for pointing out my oversight!

I have since fixed the problem and it all works fine and dandy now!! Now we can catch some pokemon with our friends who aren't exactly knowledgeable on the manual installation of mods for Minecraft! Woohoo!!!
