Bmandk Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Lately I've been thinking: Sand doesn't stick together when it's dry. Water doesn't stick together either. But together they stick together. WTF?
miniboxer Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 water does stick together, just not in a visible way. It is called cohesion, and it is why water always beads up when spread out on glass. Without it, water would just spread outwards until it was only an atom thick.
TheGuy Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 It can't be an atom thick, it's a particle (H2O, anyone?). It can only be a particle thick. :)
Bmandk Posted May 28, 2012 Author Posted May 28, 2012 And a particle is relative since it has different sizes.
NightKev Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 @TheGuy Isn't the term you're looking for "molecule"?
TheGuy Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Yes, exactly. I learn at a french-israeli school, and we don't learn in English. :>
nahguacm Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 water is adhesive and cohesive. works sorta like glue. ish. i think
