  1. Hmm... Have you tried installing Optifine? I haven't tried this myself as I haven't really had any problems with Hack/Mine, but that would be my first reaction. I'd go with the Multicore Edition

(Make sure to use the correct version for Hack/Mine!)

-Here is a video on how to do that- (If you are familiar with modding, you might not really need that though. Just make sure to install Optifine last.)

My second, (mildly cheat-ey, but far easier) reaction would be to use peaceful mode every once in a while for a second to wipe out the excessive amount of entities.

My last-ditch option would to try running it with 1gb of ram. (Although you may want to try this first.) Some people have reported that launching Minecraft through the Technic launcher with less ram actually helps combat the game's decent into horrible framerates as you play, (I myself have tried this with relative success in Hack/Mine).

  2. Aw, too bad. Oh well. Anyways, I just realized that I should probably share this.

    http://www.thefreebundle.com/

Yay for free-ness! Yay for more scary games! Yay for indies! Yay!

Hear that sound? That was all of your free time being launched through the stratosphere, way out past all of those jetpack-wearing vikings.

    You're welcome.

(Anyone want to try out Ascension and tell me how it is? I'm kinda short on free time right now, I'll probably be working on some Wiimote-Bluetooth compatibility issues with my laptop for the rest of the night.)

  3. Wow, that is a work of art, especially for MS paint. You have my applause. My avatar is actually one of the files the game spits out later. I figured out that the images and text files are actually how it "saves" how far you are in the game. So you can mess with it that way if you want to replay a section. Any-who, how far have you guys gotten? (I've beaten it. In fact... my cousin has a "let's play" video that me and him did somewhere when I was showing the game to him... he only lasted about until he saw the "Let's play tag" in blood on the wall after white face captures you the first time before chickening out.)

  4. May I recommend, "Imscared"? As a computer person, It certainly messed with my head. I don't think there's a creepypasta story behind it, but it definitely fits the feel of one.

On a side note, has anyone here ever tried "The Witch's House"? While it's decidedly un-creepypasta, It looks promising nonetheless.

  5. Well then, that's a little bit different. In the event that that does happen, I could help make sounds and/or spells. (I'd still have to learn how to handle the spellscript, but I have a good grasp of programming conventions and could probably learn it pretty quickly.)

I assume you mean, "my coders" to mean the people you gather in this thread? Or do you already have some people lined up for the job?

  6. As much as I applaud your enthusiasm for furthering the progress of the already-fantastic Hack/Mine, the mod was just overhauled about a month ago, (with a rather large re-doing of the spell system, I might add), and patched more recently than that. I think Frizzil can handle the monsters and code for now. An add-on that added new sounds on the other hand, would be very nice, as the blatant re-use of the spider's sounds for almost every other monster in the game is getting kind of annoying.

Also, with the new spellscript system in place, you can make your own spells and even submit them to Frizzil for possible inclusion in the game, which would be another great way to help. For example, a falcon punch spell (longish chargetime, huge knockback + fire setting), for the warrior would be all kinds of awesome.

  7. Fission is pretty good, depending on the amount of charging you have going on, but uranium is fairly scarce, and non-renewable. If you have the uranium and resources for it, a 4 core fusion reactor and a handful of advanced solar generators will generate a pretty good amount of power.

However, last time I checked, a fusion reactor can process water into fuel, and they also produce more power.

You also may want to consider investing in an LHC that can produce antimatter which can be used in a fulmination generator to generate a large amount of power.

So, fission is OK for a while, but in the long run, you're gonna want to upgrade to fusion. Hope this helps!

  8. You have one, but you will never be able to find 4 Diamonds big enough for making the energy crystals needed to craft an MFE so that you can charge it.

I wish for unlimited wi-..no.. I wish for an arbitrarily large but finite number of wi-... I wish for revocation of all rules prohibiting unlimited wis....no.

I wish for the power to see where any shortened URL goes without clicking.

  9. It doesn’t ever end, but goes on, and on, and on, and oonnn- but then you play so long and push so much data through your computer that it eventually becomes self-aware, and decides that the best way to conquer the world would be through mass production of robotic pudding-eating monkeys. The massive pudding shortages spread throughout the globe, causing mass panic and mayhem to overthrow the world's governments. Except China. Which decides to take over the world for itself.

Four hundred years into the future, a Chinese scientist discovered the secret to the ultimate pudding. But controversy about the origins of the research lead to a deep-set division in the pudding research lab where the recipe originated, setting all of the employees on edge. Later that week, Sedrick stole my lunch, which, through one thing and another, eventually lead to a pudding balloon fight in the room with all of the computers that controlled the world's supply of radioactive 500-foot fire-breathing lizards. After Tokyo was destroyed thirty seven times in a single day, the rest of the world followed suit.

And all because you just HAD to have more Fallout.

  10. Check the ranges of the EMP and the radar. If the radar range is higher than the EMP's, the EMP will go off prematurely and do nothing to the incoming missile.

If I have plenty of power, I usually like to set my EMP radius to a few blocks higher than the radar alert range, (which I usually set to around 75 blocks), to make sure I jam the incoming missile.

If I'm trying to save power, I'll usually set the EMP radius to be a bit smaller than the radar range, and use a few repeaters to delay the redstone pulse from the radar, but that can often require a little fine-tuning to get right.

    Hope that fixed your problem!

EDIT: I just remembered another thing that has caused me headaches in the past.

Use a wrench on the radar station to make sure that the "Emit redstone on all sides" is TRUE, not false. That can cause the radar alarm to not go off at all sometimes or to go off too late.

  11. True, that would help a lot. I was thinking of more of a sustained bombardment type scenario spanning a few minutes or so. I guess if you had a ton of resources and really wanted to go for broke, you could set up a whole ton of EMP towers and put them on a redstone clock that would activate one around every ten seconds-ish. That would be pretty much a sure-fire lock against missiles if I'm correct. Of course, you wouldn't be able to fire any missiles either, unless you stop the redstone clock. This would probably be ridiculous for one person to do, but on a large-scale faction vs. faction server…

I'll go test it out to see how well it works/how feasible it is.

EDIT: @ Melfice, you set the coordinates to a few blocks away from the launcher, so it launches almost straight up.

  12. It gets heat by burning coal. Just shove a pile of coal inside it and it should take care of itself pretty quickly. The heat mechanic also means that the longer it runs, the more efficient it becomes, and the faster it generates electricity.
