  1. Since I discovered Applied Energistics I now loathe ordinary chests. I'm so used to being able to either pick up a deep storage unit or an ME drive and skipping off to a new location without having to worry about picking up all the shit that gets spewed out when using vanilla chests.
  2. Deep Storage Units are awesome. You can only store 1 kind of item in them but they can hold up to 2 Billion of that item. Also when you break the block it retains the contents so you don't get like 2 billions blocks popping out.
  3. I just store mine in a deep storage unit. I think I currently have about 303k. You'll always have more cobble than you can ever use but I prefer not to throw things away. Besides I often build with stone bricks and it gives me an easy supply of sand and glass via the pulverizer.
  4. I'm already running 3 Induction Smelters, 4 Pulverizers, 2 Furnaces and a Sawmill so a little bit of extra configuration is probably all I need. I suppose all really need is to add an export bus to pump in sand to an unused side of the Smelter and just alter the current patterns from, for example, 1 sand + 1 iron ore = 2 iron ingots to 1 iron ore = 2 iron ingots. The system then doesn't really see any difference as the import/export maths works out the same. I think I had already set the lesser used patterns i.e. Hardened Glass, electrum, etc to their own Smelter anyway. Excellent, I'll try that when i get home. Thanks!
  5. Perhaps, though do we really need any more engines? I suppose it'd be nice having the choice but unless they'd be a higher tier than BioFuel I'd personally get no benefit from it. And either way it's easier and more sustainable to still use your own sources of sewage/sludge than it is to rely upon naturally generated sources.
  6. They're naturally generated. You can get sewage from animals using the sewer block so there's really no point to them.
  7. Ah then it's probably sewage. Unless you're prepared to pick up those big lakes with a bucket you may as well just block them in as the pump only works on oil, water and lava.
  8. Dark grey lakes are sludge, brown are sewage, black are oil. I don't think I've ever seen a yellow one. The only liquids I can think of that are yellow are fuel, rocket fuel and liquidized glowstone, but it can't be that because it flows up.
  9. Nope. An automated tree farm will get you a heap of sapling to convert to biofuel. A basic planter will plant in a 3x3 area but this can be expanded with MFR upgrades. Place the planter 1 block down, provide it with power and fill it with saplings. It'll start to plant all its inventory as far as it can. At the edge of the planted area plop down a harvester (with the same range upgrade as the planter), provide it with power, a pipe to pump out the wood, saplings and other drops and ideally a waterproof pipe to pump out the sludge for processing in a sludge boiler (to make sand, clay and soul sand). That's basically it. To make it fully automated you just need to hook up the planter to a system that will feed some of the harvested saplings into it. The trees grow pretty fast so if you use a big enough area you'll likely produce more saplings and wood than you'll need.
  10. I've been having an occasional issue with AE and the Induction Smelter. I have it parked beside an Interface with some appropriate processing patterns in it. Most of the time it works fine but when requesting more than a stack of 64 can often cause problems. Say, for example, I've just requested an order of 1000 iron ingots (made with iron ore and sand) AE fills both inputs with stacks of sand. Upon removing one of the stacks it'll refill again. The system has queued up enough sand to fulfill the order but the ore doesn't appear until that queue of sand has been manually cleared. It doesn't always happen but it's an annoyance I'd like to get resolved if at all possible.
  11. Man an electric bow sounds way more awesome! In my head it looks like a more futuristic version of this..
  12. Hey folks, I've just begun playing around with the AE ME level emitters but I've noticed that if I try to lift/remove one that has been placed in the world the block is just destroyed. I haven't been able to find anyone else online reporting the same and from a cursory glance of the cfg there's nothing that should cause this kind of behaviour. Is this intentional? If it is it's bloody annoying.
  13. i7-2700 @ 3.5Ghz 16Gb RAM GTX 670
  14. I'm running Win8 and have no problems.
  15. I'll try it when I get home and report back. If it does work it's a marginal improvement (ingredient-wise) but still involves more hiding of machinery than I would like.
  16. That might work too though it's not really that much different to my current setup. Both ways are just as inelegant as each other.
  17. Has anyone else had an issue with AE and MFR harvesters running an automated wheat farm? I've found that with a basic import bus plugged into the back of the harvester will successfully collect the wheat but not the seeds so the field will eventually run out of crops. The only way I've found to fix it is to collect the harvest with BC pipes into a chest and import to the AE network from there.
  18. I completely disagree. Minecraft is, after all, limited only by your imagination. There's always *something* to do. If you're finding it boring I'd suggest finding another game to play for now.
  19. I think the only answer appropriate is "When it's ready". Which sucks. I've deliberately not touched any of the galacticraft mod until there's a good amount to do in/with it. Another guy on my server seemed to go balls out on his own in order to get get into space, got there and since then I pretty much haven't seen him online, probably cuz there's not alot to do on the moon. Besides I've plenty enough projects on Planet Bob to be getting on with.
  20. Pretty sure it needs iron, gold and glass. I've made a bunch of them and they're definitely not that simple to make.
  21. Bit of a shitter. In that case I'd suggest just getting a filler and blocking it all up unless you can be bothered bucketing it out.
  22. Animals will also create sewage if you plop down a sewer block in their field and harvesters will create sludge from crop fields.
