Not too long at all! I'm soaking up every word and trying to figure out how to make it myself. =P So for the Level Controllers, I'm still new to the whole ME Network thing and how a lot of it works, but to my best guess you're simply using the Level Emitter piece, set to send/drop a redstone signal that's activating and deactivating the Tesseracts powering the group of machines farming the particular component?? I thought it was going to be so much more complicated than that! I could probably set up a few of those in a reasonable amount of time!! I must hurry off to expand my little plot of land! I need more space! =P

OH my god, I just had a nerd-gasm from that set up! Holy shit that's amazing. What I really need to start working on next is that Level Manager system you have. Right now I just have a bunch of monitors that I try to keep an eye on while I manually swap the needed materials in and out of my farms... Miserable work right there... And I actually feel like I'm going through saplings way faster now that I've managed to jack up the efficiency on my reactors with the Percision Exports feeding them. Or maybe it's just that I'm actually watching the levels more closely now... Few things I was wondering though if you don't mind, Gildan: 1) What the hell could you possibly be powering with 96 generators?? =P 2) I noticed your farms don't utilize the full 3x3 space that the planters have by default. Looks like some of your trees are single blocks, I think I see a 1x3 wheat farm and what I believe is a 1x3 potato farm? What's the reason you set it up like that? I think I can understand the trees because I'm definitely noticing different saplings only want to grow on specific spots of the planter's 3x3 grid... The solution I was going to use(literally right after I left the forums tonight) was to move my tree farm, drop a few upgrades in the planter/harvester/fertilizer and make the whole layout bigger, not smaller. 3) Edit:: I had something here about your compost farm, but I figured it out on my own. =P

That is awesome Gilden... And holy hell I'm doing things soooo wrong it's not even funny. Lol... Thanks for putting the time into researching that, I'll see what I can do in terms of adjustments to my setup now.

What do you mean? You keep all your stuff if you get sent to Limbo... Just don't die in Limbo. Lol
-
Should bring plenty of food though incase you get stuck in Limbo for an extensive amount of time. =P

Wow, didn't realize how much power those reactors dished out... O_o; Does anyone know the optimum ratio for high output? I just intergrated my auto cactus farm into my system so it's feeding my reactors as well, giving me the maximum 8 items that the Percision Export bus can handle

Yes, you can enable those on a Tekkit server, it involves a line of characters added to the Tekkit Server>Loginmessage.txt file. Pretty sure you can find it on the Rei's Minimap page, either that or I got it from a Wiki page, can't remember. The first line of my LoginMessage.txt is this: &eWelcome to Prototype's &eserver, &b%nm&e!!&0&0&1&2&3&4&5&e&f The part in bold is the characters that represent different entity options, but I can't remember what is what, or if the characters before them are part of that or something else. I never bothered to change the MotD other then to add that line. Best I can remember that code should give you Hostile Mobs, Passive Mobs, other players, and Slimes, but not slime chunks. Think that was all the options.

If it is Dimensional Doors(2 stone uprights with a blue/black portal between them) I highly recommend doing some research on the mod before going through one. Unless you really enjoy the surprise and figuring things out on your own.. Which probably isn't the case if you posted here before going through one. =P

I've been meaning to put together a couple Tutorials myself with some of the not so obvious stuff I've picked up in Tekkit, like using Mystcraft to build a waypoint network and stuff like that. I'm just more interested in playing then teaching right now. Lol. Anyway, I think the 2 to one ratio would probably be the bare minimum toward efficiency. I could probably easily remove two of my reactors and still have more power then I would know what to do with. As it stands now I even took out all of my biofuel mats and just let my generators go, trying to drain them so I could measure how quickly they would build energy with the new efficiency from the export buses... It took 2 days to even make a dent in the tanks... and I ran a max sized quarry to help with the drain, as well as all my usual machines, and the budding ME network I was building.
-
Thanks but that's terribly inefficient. =/ What I have now feeds 2 stacks of 7 different plants(4 different saplings, potatos, carrots and seeds. I'll be adding cactus to that shortly). I just need to add more generators and more machines to use all that power! =P
-
Yea, it's complete overkill. I've been meaning to add on a few more Generators, but I just haven't needed to. I figured the 1:1 wasn't necessary, most of what I saw was at the very least 2 Gene's to a Reactor. This was kind of thrown together in a rush one day, with very little research because my Combustion set up exploded one day(only had 2 coolers for 6 engines) and I wanted something more stable.

Just wanted to follow up with this. I was able to get things working beyond perfectly. Those percesion Export Bus's did more then I could have ever hoped for. Thanks again. =P Here's a couple SSs to show my(less then ideal) setup. http://imgur.com/s9HDR8i Here I have my 2 compact auto-farms, one's set up to handle wheat, carrots, and potatos. I manually rotate as needed. The other I rotate through different saplings for bio fuel efficiency. I have a distro+void pipe assembly throwing out some of the excess components so I don't get completely flooded with logs or seeds. Then the biofuel components get piped into that gold chest which has an Import bus attached to the bottom. http://imgur.com/r5NTZE2 This one just shows my 4 reactors receiving input from 4 percision export buses. They fill the main processing bar to max, then they add an additional stack of each item to the buffer. It's perfect!

Applied Energistics 2 stage patterns
Prototype958 replied to Prototype958's topic in Tekkit Discussion
Woah woah woah... The Interface actually needs to be on an input color? I just thought it had to be connected to the top of the TE Machines... I completely misunderstood all those videos I watched. I guess that makes sense though... All my other machines are still set to the default input specs which is usually input from top and left... What I had before for all my TE machines was Interface on top, ME pipe connecting that to the network, and an Export bus going into the right of the machines... I thought the Interface just told the machine what needed to be done, I didn't even think of it actually putting the components into the machine... wow I feel dumb. Thanks Dew, that would have caused all sorts of problems for me down the road, I'm sure of it. -
If you're still looking, I'm getting to be a whiz with machines and automation. I'm a cave dweller so not much of a builder, but I can get shit running for you. =P Screen Shots available on request.

Applied Energistics 2 stage patterns
Prototype958 replied to Prototype958's topic in Tekkit Discussion
Thanks Toki. I guess that makes sense. I'll have to rework my setup a little so I have room to incorporate an extra Induction Smelter or 2 if I need them later I guess. Seems like that's going to be only solid solution. I haven't looked into it before, but I'm assuming that the single slot on the Export Bus will let me pick which component comes through it? If that's the case then just putting one Lead in the Bus feeding the "Purple" input slot should keep Exporting lead for me so I don't need to worry about it anymore. I'll be sure to give it a try when I get home tonight. Also, I just have to say, you guys are fantastic. I've posted a few times here this week as I dig deeper into the new Tekkit pack and every time I get the same handful of people responding quickly and with a lot of good information. Thanks for all the help everyone! -
Applied Energistics 2 stage patterns

http://forums.technicpack.net/threads/pictures-making-applied-energistics-work-with-an-induction-smelter.45001/ Wow, don't know how I missed this post when I was looking into this problem... Seems like they fixed it by making both outputs the same color? From what I understand as long as I don't request so many that it would try and put more then a stack of one component in, I should be good that way. I'll test it when I get home. Anyway, for the record, I am using an Interface on top of the machine, I have that on all my machines and it works fine for them. I also have the correct pattern in the machine with the correct recipe on the pattern. I'm at work right now so I can't test anything but I will as soon as I get back. Set up when I left was 2 Export busses, one on the back going to the "Purple" input, one on the left going to the "Green" input(those 2 are the defaults I believe), Interface on top of the machine with the pattern for Hardened Glass in it and an Import Bus on the right. I'm looking for more of an "On Demand" solution, if I ever need to use the Induction Smelter for something else(probably wouldn't anyway but just in case) I'd like to be able to just drop in a new pattern and go instead of having to reconfigure the setup. -
Applied Energistics 2 stage patterns
Prototype958 replied to Prototype958's topic in Tekkit Discussion
That's an interesting little quark about the different types of wood, thanks for the heads up! I'm sure I would end up beating my skull against the wall when I messed that one up. Lol Alright I've got the simple things working like the Processors, but I'm still struggling with the hardened glass and I'm assuming it has to do with the way my induction smelter is set up. Is the Export bus smart enough to handle the multiple outputs from a single side of the smelter, or do I need multiple busses exporting to the appropriate input sides of the machine? I currently have it set up just like all my other intergrated machines with the Interface on top, export bus coming in on the side and input bus coming out of the opposite side. I'm going to go build another export and try playing with the Induction's input configs and see if it will work with a 2 Export busses right now. -

Huh... I thought I had tried it like that, but I guess I was mistaken... I'll go check it out again right now. Again, thought I had tried that with the Basic Processor Assembly, but I must have done something wrong. I'll go double check my patterns and give it a shot now. I'll have to look into that Storage Bus idea as well. I've seen them in NEI but I haven't worked with them yet. Need to do some research on that front. Thanks for the advice guys. Like I said, only been working with ME for about a day now, finished my MAC last night and have been filling it with patterns all morning. Just trying to get as many things down to a single click as possible. =P -
Hello again! Brand new to AE as of yesterday. Almost have my network set up completed, few more pieces to go. Just adding patterns right now but I'm curious about something. I'm looking for someone to enlighten me a little about the patterns for the ME networks. I've watched a bunch of videos on AE in general, but I haven't found one that talks about what I'm calling "2 stage patterns". Basically what I'm trying to find out is if there's a way to create crafting patterns that are smart enough to say, "Alright this pattern needs a piston, but we're out of pistons. I have the mats for a piston, and a pattern on how to make it. I'll make a piston and add it to the recipe I'm doing". Also maybe for something that needs to be outsourced? Say I tell the network to build 10 Energy Conduit, but I only have enough Hardened glass for 8, is there a way to set up the patterns to have the network automatically craft that glass if the materials are there? I tried doing this with the Golden Processors in that I set up the recipe for the assembly, and set the output to the final smelted version but the network couldn't seem to figure that one out(yes I have the powered furnace intergrated properly)

I know, I hate the regular BC pipes, always have problems with them. All I really use now are Diamond, Void and a couple Distro pipes at this point. Anything I have that's still using pipes is purly till I can figure out a better solution. Like I said, slowly getting my ME network online, getting all my crafting requirements out of the way then I'm going to push a wireless set up over to my farm/reactor and replace all those ugly pipes and loops.
-
Good to know guys, thanks a ton. I've got a temp set up right now that doesn't require me to babysit it using just gold pipes, some iron pipes to maintain direction and an overflow loop. Again, it's hit or miss with the gold pipes, I watched one sapling do 4 laps around the loop before feeding into a reactor that had 3 open slots... At least it fills the whole buffer right now though, or I think it is... Once I get my ME network fully functional I'll play with those Inport/Export BUS's. Sounds like those will be the most consistant method.
-
You know what... I haven't tried it with just regular pipes since I put in my overflow loop... Before the loop I was losing too many seeds/saplings/etc because of the way basic pipes don't always feed where you want them too... I'll give that a shot now. If it doesn't work I'll pop back in with some SS. I've literally just started getting my ME networking going this morning but it's a good distance from my reactors. Once I have things up and running I'll give it a shot with the extractors. You're suggesting the harvesters feed the seeds/saplings/etc into the network, and then have the network push them out to the reactors, right?

Hey guys, I'm looking for some advice on how to automate my Biofuel factory because I just can't seem to get it working properly. The Biofuel Reactors' buffer doesn't seem to like to accept input from, well anything really. I've tried feeding my resources in directly with regular gold pipes but that was too inconsistant. I've also tried direct with Insertion pipes, but it only works if the item it's trying to feed into the buffer is in the first slot of the buffer. My final attempt has been with hoppers being fed with Insertion pipes, but again, they only feed down into the Reactor if the item is in the first slot AND there are no others of that type in the buffer. I'm getting tired of babysitting my setup... I automated everything for a reason and it wasn't so that I could free up time to watch plants get fried in the reactors. Lol. There's probably a stupidly simple solution since I really havn't been able to find this problem anywhere else on forums or Google. Additional Info: Tekkit 1.0.6 on a private server I host for myself and a handful of buddies
