Re: 6 chamber Nuclear Reactor Setup As far as automating nuclear reactors, that I am not 100% on as I almost exclusively play Tekkit so I personally would rather have a "hands-on" relationship with my reactor (don't take that as women advice). However, I do recall someone mentioning that only the center chamber (not the six addons) is the only thing capable of accepting items from a BC pipe. I haven't confirmed it, mostly because I use RedPower pipes. As for the whole cooldown timers in general, if they're very low then as long as you're not using an automated reactor that doesn't account for the CD timer then you're fine, because the CD Timer really measures your ability to run a reactor with consecutive generation lifetimes. And if it takes you 21 seconds to load the thing before starting a new generation cycle, then you're fine. :)

When it comes to 1, 2, 3, and 4 uranium celled reactors and efficiency, for each of them are pretty set. With 1 Uranium Cell, the maximum efficiency you can get is 1.00 (it by itself) [Net gain: +1] With 2, the maximum efficiency you can get is 2.00 (placing it next to the first one) [Net gain: +1] Now with 3, you can't place it next to both of the two previous cells if they're already next to each other, so the maximum efficiency you can get is 2.33. [Net gain: +0.33] With 4, you can finally form a square, which yields an efficiency of 3.00. [Net gain: +0.66] ...or with 4 you can form the tetris T shape for an efficiency of 2.50 [Net gain: +0.17] ...or with 4 you can have two sets of two cells for an efficiency of 2.00 [Net loss: -0.33] Note that no matter where you place a 5th U-cell next to a square, the efficiency is still 3.00 [Net gain: +0.00] This is purely looking at the efficiency of Uranium use. If you need to conserve iron/copper/tin for other projects and want to utilize minimum cooling components (and don't need a huge energy demand) then you'll have other factors in choosing. I think your setup is ridiculously great, because you're generating at 2.33 efficiency with minimal cooling components (Note that if you change one of the platings to an integrated cooling unit then you can run it infinitely, Mark I-O EC), and you've already surpassed the lackluster 0.33 Net Gain from adding a third cell, so once you're ready to expand into a 4-cell reactor you have many many options available to you: [li]The Ridiculously Efficient but Long Cooldown Time Mark II-1 EB (3.00 Efficiency, 76 mins CD, 82.36 Effective EU/t) [/li] [li]The Efficient 4-celled shorter Cooldown Time Mark II-3 EC (2.50 Efficiency, 38 min CD, 81.4 Effective EU/t)[/li] [li]The Less-Efficient-Than-A-3-Cell But More Sheer Power & Safety Mark I-O EC (2.00 Efficiency, 0 CD, 80 Effective EU/t)[/li] Those are just some examples of what you can expand into once your (awesome, did I mention awesome?) 3-celled system isn't providing enough juice. I'm not 100% sure they're the most efficient setup, so let me know if you find one better!
  4. Re: 6 chamber Nuclear Reactor Setup I hate to say it, but you could be running three reactors with the same amount of uranium you're using to produce twice as much power total as you currently are with this setup. Also it is a "turn on and forget" setup as well.

  6. Re: 6 chamber Nuclear Reactor Setup I don't believe it goes through all 4 stacks of 64 in 17 seconds. If you go to "SUC Options" it says how many stacks are used. However, I am unsure if it is per generation time (17 seconds) or per Uranium cell loading (2 hours of generation time). Apparently it uses 1.94 stacks.

  10. Re: 6 chamber Nuclear Reactor Setup Actually maximum output for a nuclear reactor is 2400 EU/t. No reason to create it though since not even HV Cables can safely transfer that power. Here is a tool that can help you plan a reactor, and this is my current "safe" setup: Nuclear Reactor Planning Tool w/ a Mark I-O EC setup EDIT: If you're feeling more ballsy, or EC isn't efficient enough for you, here is a Mark II-1 EB reactor design that can operate a full cycle and needs 76 mins, 11 seconds of cooldown in between. EDIT2: Here is the obligatory super-efficient hardcore-mode where you need good redstone skills in order to run it properly. The EU/t it generates is just barely usable and its efficiency is about the best you can ask for. Mark V-SUC EA

  12. I use RP tubes, I find them a heck of a lot more useful and their cost a lot more balanced than BC pipes personally. I don't mean to imply BC is imbalanced, I just like challenges.

  15. If you really want the problem solved, I would have seen tech specs by now (such as RAM, CPU, any Routers / network specs). So for now it's storytime: Usually I find my server does the "LOL i unbroke all your blocks for you!" when one of my roommates starts watching hulu or doing something network intensive, like downloading 4TB of meme images (My lawyer says I have to say all of our activities are legal). But that only happens to me, connected to a server run on the same computer through Hamachi, I don't get jerky movements. Other people connected outside experience lag (the kind that apparently causes jerky movements & unbreaking blocks), and people connected on the same network experience just unbreaking blocks. I can usually host 5 people (including myself, with render distance on "far") with 8GB RAM no problem and i5-2400K Sandy Sandwhich intel chip. Our router is a Linksys model WRT54GS and we have high speed internet due to proximity to a university (would have fiber optic for the entire city but politicians happened).

Assuming that the fall was at a terminal velocity of 54 m/s (rough estimate based on a person belly-down skydiving): The force from a fart required to produce enough acceleration in a short enough amount of time to negate this speed will be derived through Newton's second law, Force = mass * acceleration. The average duration of a fart is 1.2 seconds (http://www.chacha.com/question/what-is-the-average-length-of-a-fart-in-seconds I always name my sources, thanks Sexual Orientation!). Acceleration times time gives us velocity: a * t = v, thus solving for a: a * 1.2 s = 54 m/s a = 45 m/(s^2) Assuming creepers are heavy 100kg beasts, Newton's second law is used: F = m * a F = 100kg * 45 m/(s^2) F = 4500 N This is the equivalent force of setting yourself on a bed of nails with a 1012 lb weight on your stomach. This force is so extreme, I must exclaim it is a miracle at all we can cause enough internal damage to kill them with meager blunt objects when they cannot be crushed by 1012 lbs of force. Thank you for letting me tribute this post to Mr. Newton, who proved that mathematicians were heretics in 1492.

I've never really been a big BC fan (I find this whole "create a 1 meter by 1 meter moving piston and it provides power!" really silly), but I've been building a RedPower tube system with an automatic sorting and storage well (along with a recycling station for an overflow of any specific items, or if people put in undesirable items i.e. Rotten Flesh. Yay automation!). I love it, wasn't that hard to set up (although Ender Pearls are the one thing I find hard to obtain), and if there's complaining about specific ores then I highly suggest using IC2 Miners to snipe good ores so you don't have to wait on quarries, or dig down by hand to place them at the lower locations. All in all, I've never used teleport pipes (I find BC pipes ugly personally) and have had almost no resource problems (again, excepting Ender pearls). Almost finished getting ~2800 Reinforced Stone for my Nuclear Powerplant's hull. The only three gripes I have with RedPower2: 1) Uses bluetricity instead of EUs (Two power systems isn't that hard to do but it isn't super nice) 2) Can't interact with BC's automatic crafting table well 3) Requires lots of Ender Pearls for Retrievers (so higher cost in making an automated sorting/overflow system) Of course, I do things pretty locally so I can understand how the chunk unloading could be a pain. But RP2 isn't bad, just different.

  21. That's exactly what happened to the Coke Machine on my server. But it can easily be avoided by using the right patch file. I suggest using the one I posted to be able to see the old tubes (granted, they're shown as mining tubes). That way, all you have to do is find "Mining Tubes" in the patch file I posted and edit the ID's correctly.
  22. Odd, the last paragraph in the post is a link to Rei's Minimap. That's probably where you went wrong. Otherwise, don't use Stanchez's patcher file. It consistently got stuck when trying to update the players' inventories. This patch file should preserve electricity and cables, as that was the reason I edited it. EDIT: I can't really offer you any more help because your posts are oddly detailed and extremely meticulous in documenting your problem, especially seeing how dedicated you are to fixing your world.

When I used mIDas *GOLD* to update from v1.0.0 I didn't use Stanchez's patch file, I used the default log file and had to switch some things around so that cables and "Electric" (w/e that is) would be preserved. Unfortunately, all the buildcraft pipes defaulted to Mining Pipes but I discourage BC pipes on my server so only one guy was (mildly) affected. However, the Coke Machine for railcarts turned into invisible "Unnamed Blocks", but that was the only thing that happened (and could have been avoided if I looked up the proper ID switch but I just gave the gal who owned the 1 Coke machine another).
