This Guy Made a Bad Server Post and I Made Him Racist: A Short Story
SimpleGuy replied to Ilnor's topic in The Whale Box
IDK guys, Sektur 7's gaming community might try to strike back... -
I don't believe so, if I remember correctly: 1) Activision pioneered the idea of "making games without making the console". At the time, the only games for the Atari were made by... Atari! So Activision was formed under the novel premise of "hey we don't make the Atari console but we're going to release games for it". If this hadn't been set a precedent in the Supreme Court then the only Wii games would be published by Nintendo, the only PS3 games by Sony, and the only Xbox360 games by Microsoft. 2) EA was later formed because the developers at Atari (unsure about Activision, probably as well) because developers were told "hey make a game but you get no credit", which was a problem if, say, an Atari game developer wanted to move into a "real" software job. He had no proof he made the game. So EA was like "Eff this, we're gonna make games be a work of art and give our developers proper credit!" and they became the world's first geek-hipster crossovers. And promptly sold their souls.

I just think you misread. And even if the "Excuse" is a scandalous new position I haven't heard of, I'll pass on your offer.
-
It's really ironic because EA was founded on the principle that it would be the first gaming company (back in the early 80's) that gives it's developers full credit in making the game, which contrasted to Atari at the time, who gave two shits about developers and just wanted games out (see Adventure! and its Easter egg). Who knew that these 1980's "hipsters" with their "electronic art" would one day become the giant sellout machine of "Same game different name".

INSIDE: Advanced Machines preventing LEARNING HOW TO READ.

All I can say is Azanor has gone beyond the call of duty most MC modders face. Not even direwolf's silly voice could detract from that awesomeness.
-
If I remember correctly, we (and I say "we" lightly, I think this was before I was a moderator) worked hard for that.
-
The problem with that is then the money we'd be getting would otherwise go to the modders, meaning we'd be a huge magnet for the drama-llama choo choo going full speed down the fast rails. The "excess" we would be giving to the modders seems like a great idea until all 17 million of them want to audit us and send over their drama-llama air force, ground force and ships after our drama-llama trainwreck survivor hostages to prove we aren't going "oh hey yeah about that our costs were $100,000 so yeah we had to keep all our donations", not that we'd do that anyway because we're DecentGuys. So yeah, it's a lot easier to avoid those drama-llamas, especially that air-force. Raining spit all day.

There's always that younger brother that that offenders share their account with... such a classic internet parable by now.

Linux server error on startup (logs posted ITT)
SimpleGuy replied to toastynator's question in Tekkit Classic
Yes, you're incredibly lucky because between that and the fact that your problem is a known issue (I.E. STICKIED) and you didn't bother to read up on it or search for it means that me locking this is about the nicest thing that could possibly happen. -
Sunico you got 10 minutes to edit your original post with the contents of the bug report format you are missing.

You got twenty minutes to fully edit your OP with the proper Bug Report format stuff, since you're halfway there. Glad to see you've updated it, now how about reading stickies in the future? -
Problem Unable to Modify minecraft jar in .techniclauncher

"I'm not a pirate, I'm just using stuff other people pirated!" Sounds a lot like illegal torrenting excuses. -
I have a vampire in my fortress, so I'm currently constructing a U.R.I.S.T. Artificial Intelligence room for it to live in.

My thoughts:

Ironic, since this guy posted 1 day before the REQUIRED READING was posted. So technically he is in the clear. Although since he's not posting any additional information it is making it extremely difficult to solve his problem. OP, please use the "Modify" or "Edit" button on the right side of your first post and include information linked above. That will help speed up finding out the cause of your problem.

Working with CUDA C, and the GPU kept returning all of my arrays as quiet not-a-number instances. This was before I had a debugger that could work with the GPU, and took me forever to realize that it is an extremely low-level machine that doesn't detect overflow/division by zero instances. So every simple math operation had the potential to get nasty.

I read them :P

I know and it was my biggest failure. I was pushing the team to wait to update it three whole months later but KakerMix told me no and kicked me out of the cool kid hangout. :(
