[1.2.9e] WrathofUranus SURVIVAL [10 slots][WHITELIST]NOTHING REMOVED
Sturlie replied to Dezzie9889's topic in Tekkit Servers
1) Sturlie 2) 28yoa 3) no removed items/mods sounds interesting, especially for mystcraft and dimensional doors 4) no skype for me, do I need to get it? -
Hello, so I recently started having a problem with a few of the chunks in my Tekkit world. I've done a bit of research in an effort to resolve the problem, but have come up against a wall and there is nothing else I have the expertise to resolve myself or find a resolution too. A couple of weeks ago I started having a major lag problem in a handful of my chunks. It's only occuring in this one handful of adjacent chunks. Basically when I enter any of these handful of chunks I get extraordinary lag unto the game being unplayable within this area. I haven't done anything in these specific chunks aside from placing some torches and mining out some ores. I can't just reset the region as my hq is nearby to these chunks and I am not sure how to tell if my hq is in the same region as the offending chunks. My research has turned up three possible ways to resolve the problem, but one involves delving into the game code so I don't feel comfortable with that one given my lack of technical expertise. The other two involve tools I feel more comfortable with but I am not certain how I can use them alongwith tekkit. The first option is to use MCEdit to regenerate the chunks, but I have been unable to figure out how to set up MCEdit to be able to read all of the mods in tekkit. Currently I am only able to figure out how to set up MCEdit to work with vanilla minecraft, MCEdit reads my world with numerous 'unknown' blocks in the place modded blocks, which is a problem because I assume this also means that MCEdit cannot generate new chunks with modded blocks the way a Tekkit world should have. The other option is to use World Edit and regenerate the chunks from world edits in world interface, however I do not know how I could add World Edit to my single player map. Any help would be much appreciated.

"99 bugs in the code, 99 bugs in the code, take one down patch it around, 128 bugs in the code" Anyway, sorry to be a pest, I'm just not really sure how the system works or whats really considered normal so I thought here might be the best place to ask. Thanks to everyone for the help.
-
Okay so first I'm not asking when, I'm asking if. As is and as near as I can tell Tekkit is currently operating off of Minecraft 1.6 (if I'm reading it right) I'm just curious if there are plans to update to 1.8 at some point in the future (obviously after it becomes possible to do so, I heard about the forge bug)

Are you looking for Steel instead? http://wiki.technicpack.net/Steel_Dust

I don't knwo for certain or a lot about it, but I think there are some galacticcraft blocks which can be crafted using obsidian which have some blast resistance to them.
-
You could also use the obsidian chests from Iron Chests for blastproof storage. Though I don't know how economincal that is compared to TE Strongboxes

How does one go about updating their world in order to use it on a newer version of the game??? I've had issues in the past of world not being compatible with newer versions, I'm told it's because of block id's and items id's changing from version to version, but I am unsure of how it is possible to update a world in order to continue playing it between versions. Any help will be much appreciated, thanks!

Kudos to sct for fixing this!

Rei's Minimap change visibility of players and mobs/set motd
Sturlie replied to Blackcatz1911's topic in Tekkit Discussion
Could always ask your server admin to turn it off for you then. Possibly see if other players feel similiarly, might pan out. Also though since the menu also allows you to manage your waypoints I'm sure it's probably not disable on servers (though again I've not tried it on a server myself so I could be wrong). Mayn't be a bad idea to tap it next time you log just to see, worse that happens is I'm completely wrong and your back to square one and it only takes less than a second to find out. Good luck in any case. -
Rei's Minimap change visibility of players and mobs/set motd
Sturlie replied to Blackcatz1911's topic in Tekkit Discussion
If you tap 'm' on your keyboard it will offer you a menu which does have the option to change mob visibility in there someplace. I don't never if you can turn it off completely that way (since I haven't tried and don't want too), but if you want to turn it off you might look at that to see if that's in the options. Good luck to you -
It was late when I posted
-
To be honest I've occasional used it when creeper grief jacked up my base. Not wholly sure I want to turn it off, just keep it in case of emergencies.

Isn't there some kind of reinforced block in the GC mod? Do Meteors break Obsidian?
-
You should be able to pump it into buildcraft pipes if you place them against the appropriate side with the abovementioned orange output, make sure they're sealed/waterproof pipes. I've yet to experiment with TE liquiducts myself may be possible to do so.

MFR Lakes? You mean the Sludge and Sewage? What is that stuff even used for?

Another tool you might find useful if you're not already familiar with it is the Not Enough Items mod (if I'm not mistaken) tool to look up any item in the game as welll as the recipe and uses of that item. If you go into inventory there is a black text box at the bottom you can type the name of anything (or part of the name) in the game and find it in the NEi interface list. If you tap r or u while hovering over any of these items you can get the recipe or a complete list of uses displayed inyour MC client window for you. It's not wiki, but it can be a big help if you suck at rememebering recipes. Just be careful about clicking the NEI interface though, if you clikc on anything in the NEI interface it allows you to cheat items into the game and if you drop any items you're holding with your mouse into the NEI interface it will delete them.

I actually agree wit this. Minecraft's content is far too small and could use some serious expansion in vanilla alone, of course that's where a lot of mods come in. I would love to see a modpack which broadens the scope of the game at large. Including new types of hostiles etc . . . I've thought about doing it, but thus far I have no knowledge fo Java so for now it's just a dream.

If you want to limit the amount or type of resources players can acquire . . . or perhaps increase the difficulty of achieving them why not tie them to skill trees or 'proffessions' similiar to those seen in games such as World of Warcraft or Runescape. In example anyone could mine something such as coal, but in order to get higher tier ores a player would need to practice their skill for a time to level it up. You could also tie this to say the amount of time spent mining or perhaps output from ores, a less 'skilled' miner might only get one coal from mining an ore, a more experienced one might get three? perhaps. A similiar system could be applied to other areas, a person would need to invest some work into creating weapons and tools in order to be able work with higher tier metals in blacksmithing, perhaps eventually reaching a specialty with special unique perks and benefits associated with an advanced level.

Adding more planets to Galacticraft?
Sturlie replied to BubbleGumBrother's topic in Tekkit Discussion
So why do you have to delete the moon in order to add a new planet? If you apply the addon in this tutorial to your MC will you still be able to visit the moon in galacticcraft? I'm a tad confused, probably because I haven't learnt Java as of yet (would like to though) this tutorial removes the moon from the game? Or just ensures you don't accidentally distribute an additional copy? -
Pick a goal and research what it takes to get there. You could go to the moon, build the most efficient [insert purpose here] machine, build a grand library in a Mystcraft Age etc . . . The wiki is currently out of date due to some technical issues however, so best go looking for info via google (to find the original modsters posts and or websites) or via youtube to find tutorials on certain concepts. Good luck and have fun.
