  1. I use the Direwolf20 pack, which doesn't have GregTech (which is "difficult" just for the sake of being difficult), but even so, I've found myself steering away from using IC2 only. Thermal Expansion, if used correctly, Can be used just as effectively as IC2 to double your ores, plus it doesn't require extra pipes between the machines. I still have a Vajra and almost full quantum (need more power gen to keep up with the Mass Fab), but I also have branched out a lot more than I ever have, which for me has never really happened. But that's just me. I'm mostly just waiting on both getting more resources to build a frame quarry and the addition of Logistics Pipes (don't want to set up a system with the unofficial port just to have the new one be added and possibly screw everything up).
  2. The mod looks cool at first glance, and you think it would be with some of the other mods he's made, but once you look into it, the more you realize it's just as shitty as he is, unless of course you're one of the people who like it. GregT is a massive dick, and if he wants to hurt the end user, let him. Only hurts him really.
  3. Look here under the 1.8 update section.

    PvP Tips

I think these are the best parts of it. Sums up people on where he's going pretty well. (Also, ftfy)
  5. Doesn't Rei's have a player tracker in with the mob marker settings (whatever they're called). It's got support for every mob under the sun, and I think it has that. Or you could make a mod like RichardG did, the gps-not-stalker mod. But he basically disabled it (made it non mandatory) in versions >1.2.5.
  6. And also the Mythbusters proved this (goldfish memory) years ago.
  7. Confirmed, even up through at least dev build 7.3.6 (last version it was in, I think. Haven't kept up with the newer dev builds). It's a very annoying feature for sure.
  8. They all use the same basic mods, so I'd suggest, if you wish to play on 1.4.X instead of 1.2.5, either use the DW20 pack or use Tekkit Lite, or wait for the Technic build for 1.4.X to become recommended (eta: soon®). The DW20 pack doesn't have balkons, but I'm not sure on the others. As for whether to use FTB or Technic/Tekkit, use which ever you feel like using. It's about the experience of playing modded Minecraft, nothing else.
  9. Yeah, I mentioned it because this doesn't belong there at all. This thread has merely been repurposed, as opposed to, well, being made whale box material. There definitely could be a section made for repurposed threads though, since there are enough of them lying around here.
  10. You obviously don't understand the point of the whale box then...Also, meme usage was very tempting, but the rules.
  11. That was sarcasm No, but we weren't using our own accounts, since we had the lowest access rights, whereas teachers and such had higher rights. The admin account had every right, of co...not that we had that password ...but, yeah, if it's someone elses password, not good if you get caught. As for getting around the schools crap, try proxies. I know we had one good one, but I forget the address. But I don't need it anymore (Universities have a little more faith in people, I guess).
  12. But be careful about it. Trust me, I don't know how your school is, but mine wasn't that great at keeping track of these things, and even they figured this out. Of course, teachers being logged in in towns they don't live in helps, but still. If you do it, be careful. Stealing their passwords is technically identity theft (made that very clear at the assembly), so if you're caught...well, don't get caught. What was this thread about?
  13. Yes. Putting the zip itself into modpack.jar, or any file/folder in the directory for that matter, will do nothing.
  14. My four years in high school, mostly senior year, were full of figuring out every way to get around barracuda and UAC on the school computers. Flash drives do wonders (hint). Also, not every file is as secure as they think it might be. There were multiple teacher passwords and the principals password leaked in the beginning of the year to the point where they had an assembly about it. So we had, and then lost, semi-admin rights. Then there was ophcrack...oh the fun. But I won't go there ;)
  15. So they created a profile just to do this? Nice. Also, after you get banned for doing other stupid stuff, you should know that Ban Evasion will make you extremely popular here. And we support piracy. Have fun!
  16. Assuming he is even premium... Edit: And this is my input. After all, this is a common problem.
  17. I'm not interested in it (sorry), but it is nice. I personally am seeing $12 shipping, and I'm out on the east coast, but it's different for everyone usually. But still, that's harsh...
  18. And that's why Kaker & Co made it clear that if you have issues, you can just go and install Smooth or another version over it and it should fix itself. But we all know how that ends up.
  19. Forget PS3, I want it to run on my old PS1! And my first cellphone too!
  20. No, but he/she has never allowed it (afaik) to be in a modpack, and with Kaker & Co's decision to ditch mods without permissions, Optifine is out.
  21. You just can't keep out of trouble, can you?

  22. Lets not go there... There was also a time when it was difficult to get even a half dozen different mods working together. All the devs worked pretty much independently of each other, and if you wanted to make two different mods work together, good luck. Modloader was a way of helping this, but even then installing more than a handful of mods led to errors and bugs and crashes. Forge came in to help that so much to the point where you can literally get 100+ mods working together with only a few issues. But some modders didn't want to rewrite their code to be forge compatible (King Dong XIV (nice name)), and most want(ed) credit. mostly in the form of adf.ly pennies. Not even pennies, or any other currency. Fractions of money. It all is a little absurd, but at the same time, kind of understandable (Not King Dong XIV though. Get over yourself). But it is out of hand, but will never change.
  23. Or, you know, you could just create a void age. Or was that removed in the newer versions. Void age is still useable at least in Tekkit C and Technic 1.2.5.
  24. I would think it means "Thread Creator", based on context, but I'm not sure. Easier than getting it comfused with OverPowered.
