You have FTP access, but you can't do anything yourself? This sounds like a horrible host. Edit Sorry. I shouldn't say horrible because they could be a good host. Just that specific "feature" is annoying. I didn't mean to come across as picking on your post. Just these instructions don't really explain anything at all other than just contacting support, but if that's literally all you can do (that's a lame host) then I'll own up and apologize for coming across like that.

I agree that it's nice to know what hosts will work with Tekkit. It's just nice to know how instead of just telling you to contact support.

Same as 2.0 I use GroupManager for a permission plugin and Essentials does work.

No. You want a fine line drawn for the rules so you can ride that line, but not cross it. Then when you're being a douche you can refer back here and be like "i no braked rulezz see see! XD"

This really doesn't explain anything. I mean basically this is what it is. Step 1. Get a server. Step 2. Upload Tekkit. Step 3. Submit a support ticket. Done.

I just use Adblock Plus. Ads annoy the hell out of me.

Just follow the rules. It's that simple. It doesn't matter which one you broke. You broke it. Now move on and don't break any of them again.

What browser are you using and are you using some kind of download manager?

Technic is Singe Player. Tekkit is Multiplayer. Try backing up your server and then installing Tekkit. If nothing goes wrong then you're set. It something happens then...well you know it won't work.

It would help a lot.
