I believe it should be rather easy to do. Read Grasfer post here http://forums.technicpack.net/index.php/topic,2214.0.html The just run that and the tekkit server should work. MineOS (and the other member of the MineOS family like mineOS+) are specialty Linux distributions just FYI.

And most people already have... including a 1:1 model of one of the USS Enterprise. (I am not a fanboi so I don't remember the model number it was). But really if it is popular it has a remake in minecraft. There is even a full remake of the OoT Hyrule in the works, which I like for rather obvious reasons. On a semi-off topic side note: I once played a USS Enterprise in Sauerbraten (Cube 2) and cracked up when the creator had a recreation room featuring a tribble minigolf course and a Duke Nukem Forever machine with a coming soon screen (back before it FINALLY came out.)

It does NOT do the latest snapshot, just the latest official release. Same as the regular launcher.

As far as I know this is the plan, it was a feature of the old installer and they are still working it into the new launcher.

The main problem with them keeping extra money is there will be a HUGE fecal storm of people saying "The Technic teams is stealing cash from modders for what.... Compiling a modpack and editing the sprout launcher. They are a bunch of bums." Which more or less it already the view some people seem to have via a Google search I did. As for the ad, as long as it is nothing to invasive, I don't mind small ads or text ads, but I LOATH with a fiery passion those "HEY YOU WON A NEW PS VITA ZOMG!!!" scam adds and there use of flashy lights and sound. Small, mostly relevant ads are okay with me. Just as long as the ad doesn't lock my screen, play audio, flash too much, and isn't for a HUGE scam I am fine with them.

As a FYI for the future note that .bat stands for BATCH, which is basically the windows equivalent of a Linux shell script (what Grasfer had you make). .bat and .exe cannot run on Linux (unless you have WINE).

I think the whole reality versus fiction thing is hard for anyone with a grasp on the difference between the two to understand. I like some pretty strange fiction but i can tell it is just fiction, others well... they seem to make it their reality. Same thing happens with those kids who go postal because of video games, it is not that the video games are making them more violent, it is that they already have a shattered grasp on the line between reality and fiction and the fantasy world beings to merge with their own corrupting any rational thinking. As for the original thing about why people got so into Star Trek, it's just one of those things no one can really explain. Most likely they identify with something or someone in the series and from a deep attachment to it. Maybe their was some outward stimulus, they watched it every night with someone they care about and so it has an emotional value to them. Maybe it is some weird miswiring of the brain. I really don't know. I just take fandom of any kind as something that one can't really explain. I mean give me anything and i bet i can find a group of people with inhuman amounts of interest in it. Also on the VR thing, most sci-fi stuff seems to get around that by just needing to tap into the brain directly and then you can override all those reality checking fail-safes. So really we just need to prefect the neural implant to get a full VR... though the immersion suits, synth smells, as well as the visual and sound VR technology will likely come first. Which leads me to wonder... who is going to perfect virtual taste technology. Then again everything in the VR world could just taste like chicken. :P

i don't know if it is possible. I get that you want one folder that a 3 versions will get there textures from but that would most likely involve editing the base minecraft quite a bit. Currently every possible version you can run from the launcher has it's own instance of minecraft and while it would save space to combined things like the texture packs, LWJGL file, and such. But i don't know how that would work or how much coding voodoo would be needed. For not just make some shortcuts to all the texture pack folders and just copy them in that way.

Get rid of that signature. They do not like those here. Fix that and then just wait for someone to help you.

You can move your saves folder BEFORE deleting the entire folder you know. Unless they got corrupted themselves they should be okay.
