Why would you want use to plunge back into the dark(er) ages with the old style installer? And give up on-the-fly updates? Give up the sweet package selector screen and shelve all the wonderful work Agelian and Cheap Shot have done? Shift back to the old way of out-dated mods and month-long waits between updates just because you don't want to pony up 25-30 bucks? You want to drag everyone else down because of that? That's p. selfish bro. You are correct, we have a template for the old installer. You are incorrect that it wouldn't be 'to much of a hassle'. Two reasons, first, any hassle JUST to support people that don't want to buy Minecraft is too much hassle. Second, its a ton of work and you want us to do twice as much building everything, THEN you want us to support not only Technic and Tekkit, but also all the versions that get released with the old-style installer. You don't get what he was asking. Mo' Creatures is fine and updated for 1.1 yes, but there is no SMP component. There was a time when there was SMP Mo' Creatures, and that was back in 1.8.1 and has since not been updated. I also have no idea where you'd get this idea from.

This thread is old, garavel posted this on Feb 4th, we just changed the forums style around last night/this morning (Feb 17th). Everyone is dog-piling on the guy because he was talking about an earlier logo.

Ah, yeah we just simply made the links to the launcher instead of the old-style way of the installers. We still will have the server download so the separate page still has its place, so the client links just go to the launcher. Whew! Well we have that figured out.

But it isn't? Technic Launcher is just a launcher. You run it, from there you select Technic, Tekkit, Vanilla or YogBox (Tekkit and YogBox are disabled currently). The Tekkit client is just a modpack that the Launcher runs. You get a folder .techniclauncher, and in there you have a technicspp, tekkit, yogbox, and vanilla folder which has all the packages files in it. I've got to say, I am insanely confused because this thread is bizarre.

I think you are confused. Technic isn't Tekkit. Technic is SSP, Tekkit is SMP. efb by Valkon11

No. The Technic Launcher is a fork of the Spout launcher, but that is all it shares. It isn't spout, it hasn't been made to work with Spout in mind. The way it works is the server/client are synced, so when you run a Tekkit server you can rest assured that people connecting to your server with the launcher will connect just fine. Are you allergic to the shift key as well?

They are talking about Tekkit, not Technic. The reason it isn't in Technic is because we've moved on the Buildcraft 3 which isn't supposed by Power Convertors (Becuase it lacks SMP). We're on track with having it in Tekkit 2 though, because we are still on Buildcraft 2.

No. The launcher is how we will be doing Technic/Tekkit from now on. There will be no installer like there was in versions past.

You can get around this by selecting vanilla from the drop-down menu, it will free up your controls again. We are aware of this bug.
