Try turning off Zone Alarm and redownloading. Also, your Java is horribly out of date if you are using Windows. Update your Java as well.

Turn off norton and redownload. If you get the same error, uninstall Norton and redownload. (I would recommend you get rid of Norton and get avast! or Microsoft Security Essentials. They are both free and better than Norton)

Are you sure you don't have any other firewalls or Antiviruses on?

You need to downgrade your Java to Java 6. It is not easy but there is a thread around here with step by step instructions. I will see if I can find it and then post it here. Are you downloading the jar from IE? If so it might download with the wrong extension. To fix that all you need to do is rename the file from blahblah.zip to blahblah.jar and then run it with Java.

have you tried reinstalling the pack with AV's off? Sometimes the install gets corrupted/is incomplete but still downloads...

When you download Java, make sure to get Java 6 and NOT Java 7.

AFAIK, you cannot bypass the launcher as it is the launcher that communicates directly with Mojang's servers to access the needed info.

By getting you to post your own bug report, it means that we get all of your important info so we can help you solve your issue. In addition, by threadjacking it makes it harder for the person who filled out the form and gave us all the info to get help, because you are diverting attention from him.

Sometimes you need to do that but most of the time simply disabling it should work. I would recommend uninstalling it and trying avast! or Microsoft Security Essentials. They are both free and better protection.

Don't triple post. Use the edit button and don't threadjack. If you have a similar issue, make your own bug report. AVG is an AV that can block the launcher from downloading fully

I am getting a “Technic Launcher has Stopped Working Error”! If your launcher is encountering this error, a solution is to download the .jar file from http://www.technicpack.net/download/ (pick the third from the left (Linux/Jar)). If you are using Internet Explorer you will also need to change the file extension (the ending of the file) to .jar instead of .zip. Once you’ve done that, all you need to do is double-click on the file to run the launcher.

Please for the love of all that is good, just put the correct info in. I am not going to go out of my way to read your old report when it would take you about 1 min to copy-paste the info here.
