I also managed to resolve the issue my friend was having by giving him a copy of my .techniclauncher and having him run the JAR in there. Still don't know why, but it worked so I'm not going to question it.

It's really weird, this same thing is happening with my friend's attempt to install. I managed to talk him through updating his java to 64 bit (still Java 6 though, might try Java 7 next), then manually using Java to open the jar. Apparently what he's getting is a split second Command window, then nothing. Of course the .exe is a no go as well.

To be fair, you never actually asked for help. You just put out a request for somebody to expend their precious time by making you your own personal video of what is already clearly posted in several locations here.

Wow, it's amazing that you haven't got any replies to your question! After all, you managed to convey so much helpful information in those NINE glorious words! What else can I say? Try redownloading the latest version of the launcher?
