  1. I have built 28 (7x 4 towers) of oil storage tanks that are now full of oil. I linked the bases of each tower (4 to a tower) with cobblestone waterproof pipe and one wooden waterproof pipe and a redstone engine to draw it out. But it simply empties the tank the wooden pipe attached to, leaving the other 3 full. If you link the 4 towers with pipe, then add the wooden pipe afterwards it doesn't work at all - the wooded pipe must be attached to the tank itself. Surely I do not have to have 28 redstone engines driving 28 wooden pipes to empty all the towers?
  2. OK. I have electric engines running my quarry - which I believe are on their way out. Tried making an Energy link and it doesn't work. Do I need to upgrade Tekkit - I thought it did it automatically. Just in case I am wrong.... Advanced alloy : redstone : Advanced alloy Insulated cable : redstone : Wooden conductive pipe Gold cog : redstone : Gold cog
  3. Thanks Ind Miner Well, I built 30 storage tanks 5 tanks high - and they were full by the time I had built the refinery! It pumps it pretty quick, as I laid down 300 waterproof pipes and it arrive very quickly. Teleport pipe next I think. I have knocked the oil pump down to a pair of redstone engines instead of the four I had. Perhaps that will slow production. Not even sure what I am going to do with all this fuel. Can I can it and use it in generators?
  4. What happens when your oil storage tanks are full? - does the well continue to empty and you waste the oi? If so, how an you detect when the oil tanks are full up? Will a detector pipe set to 'stuffed' work - with the output isolating the pumps. Any help would be great. Thanks
  5. Thanks Wendo. I Googled for a few hours last night and sussed a few things out. A complete Tekkit guide would be SO helpful, there are so many aspects to it and trying to work them out from snippets here and there is long hard work. I still have not worked out what can be switched on or off with a remote redstone signal.... I believe an MFSU can, what else? Generators? Nothing seems to happen when I try. Point taken... and I won't do it... but why no post signing?
  6. Err.. what is it? Can't find much about it on Wiki I understand that they are (or have) done away with electric engines (shame). So I need to power my quarry with something else - preferable not coal powered, as I don't have a lot of that around. Can I run the quarry on oil converted to fuel? Can't find the crafting for a petrol engine anywhere. (I realise it will probably need cooling etc) Thanks Steve Mod Edit: Don't sign your posts.
  7. Hi all. New to Tekkit... lost a day to it already! Few items I am having issues with. Sorry its gonna be long. I inserted a couple of detectors in the glass fibre cables coming down from my roof. One from the solar panels and one from the wind turbine tower. They operated a light block to indicate power being supplied. However... bit buggy. Sometime no power goes through them, but if you smash them out then re-fit them, they work. Also, the detector on the solar array cable (12 panels) seems to draw most of the EU out of the cable and barely any reaches my MFSU. You certainly get more power without the detectors inline. Are they supposed to rob that much? I though it was 0.5 EU per detector, which doesn't appear to be that bad. My solar array and wind turbine tower are on the roof. Both have their own glass fibre cables leading the power away (I am sure one would do - but had two for the indicating system). The roof is pretty far away - two stories. Making my turbines between level 70 and about level 100 if you press F3. Is that kind of length glass fibre cable going to rob that much power? I can't see how you can get turbines high without long cables. Can you use Batt boxes as 'boosters'? Fit one half way down the cable. I know it won't charge - it will go straight in and out again, but will the help? Probably not. I have 17 turbines, 12 solar panels and yet barely any real charge into the MFSU. I know its 'random power', but I can only ever run one of my electric engines on my quarry at any time. I have to boost it with a coal generator most of the time. Finally.... the splitter cable. It doesn't appear to do what I thought it did. I had it inline with the coal generator output, controlled by a switch. My understanding was that the generator would charge up and hold a full charge, while the splitter cable - powered by a redstone switch, stopped the EU current. However this doesn't appear to happen. The current just flows out of the generator into my MFSU anyway - regardless of the splitter state. Hope that makes sense. MUST GO TO BED.....
